Job Description
Position Summary:
- Performs pipeline engineering tasks; including, but not limited to, pipeline related calculations, alignment sheet, route map, site specific and detail drawing development, and flow assurance support.
- Prepares specifications, data sheets, material requisitions and bid evaluations.
- Reviews vendor provided data, documentation, and drawings.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard pipeline engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines.
- Provides technical assistance to other pipeline personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues.
- Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project pipeline requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
- Ensures that engineering is carried out in accordance with Bechtel’s work processes and procedures, project specific procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Ensures that pipeline design meets industry best practice and complies with pertinent pipeline codes and standards, governing regulations, and industry practices.
- Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or bid proposals for pipeline.
- Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
- Reviews and checks work of subordinate engineers.
- Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the pipeline discipline.
- Experience and knowledge of ASME, API, AWWA, ASTM and MSS codes/product specifications is essential. Specific knowledge of ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8 and CFR is a must.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Possesses either a recognized degree in engineering from an accredited college or university (or international equivalent) and a minimum of 10+ years of relevant pipeline experience.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Texas or other state is preferred or a Professional Engineering-in-Training (EIT) license from a recognized licensing board.
