Job Description

Summary

The National Trust is working in partnership with a range of stakeholders to develop a new and exciting future for the Castlefield Viaduct in Manchester.  To support this work, we are launching an ambitious fundraising appeal to bring this project to life.

*Internal Applicants only

Our colleagues work for the National Trust in many locations and sometimes don't have easy access to internal vacancy listings. Using the internet ensures we can reach as many of our colleagues as possible. We appreciate that this can be frustrating for external talent. Do note that some roles are released externally after an initial period of time.

We are looking for a highly skilled individual with a passion for fundraising and our cause to lead our ambitious Castlefield Viaduct fundraising appeal. As our new Philanthropy Consultant, you will be instrumental in helping us to deliver on our plans to bring this Grade II listed viaduct back into use, transforming it into a green oasis created by and for the benefit of local people. For several years, local people and organisations in the community have been passionate about finding a future for Castlefield viaduct. We’re excited to be working with them to try to make this a reality.

For more information about this exciting project, please see the attached additional information document and more on our website pages here.

As a charity committed to protecting nature, beauty and history, our work covers everywhere from remote islands and nature reserves to urban heritage and city parks. Castlefield Viaduct sits within our Urban Places strategy to address unequal access to nature, beauty and history and to increase access to parks and green spaces in, around and near urban areas, so eventually everyone can easily reach places of quiet with wide open skies. Our work in, around and near urban areas is about giving more people the opportunity to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of green, nature-rich parks and gardens.

This is a fixed term, full time position until July 2023 although part time working will be considered. This can be discussed further at interview stage.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of leading major capital appeals and in securing significant funding from a range of sources including charitable trusts and major donors. Calling upon your knowledge and expertise in fundraising, you’ll be responsible for securing donations from different sources and considering opportunities with local partners, Trusts & Foundations and through individual giving. You’ll also have a gift for inspiring your colleagues to ‘think like fundraisers’ to unlock enthusiasm, networks and innovative opportunities for fundraising.

Please include a cover letter and CV with your application.

INTERVIEW: w/c 21st February 2022
