Job Description

As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will be working on a specialized team focused on high touch programs to assist our patients.  This role is very detail-oriented and you’ll spend the majority of your day working in our compounding suite compounding sterile and non-sterile medication, completing daily documentation as required per USP regulations, maintaining the compounding suite, entering formulas in the compounding software, and processing prescription orders. 

Work Schedule:  40 hour work week.  10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday (6AM-5PM) with 1 hour provided for lunch, to eventually include Friday operations and become a combination of rotating 4 days/week 10-hour shifts and/or 5 days/week 8-hour shifts Monday thru Friday depending on the needs of the business.

This role is Worksite dependent and can only be performed onsite. You must be fully vaccinated if you’re to come onsite OR undergo testing twice a week.

A little more about the day-to-day:

  • Perform compounding functions within adherence to USP 795, 797, and 800 and other compounding rules and regulations in both ISO 5 environments as well as non-sterile compounding rooms.
  • Perform required daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning and disinfecting of clean rooms, ante rooms, hoods, prep space, USP 800 rooms, and equipment.
  • Ensure appropriate distribution of workload and workflow for assigned area including shifting resources and backfilling as needed.
  • Accurately and responsibly operate production equipment to include, but not limited to, changing labels, cleaning printers, monitoring production equipment, restocking materials.
  • Ensure appropriate teams are informed of equipment malfunctions.
  • Serve as the first line resource for questions/issues for team members in coordination with supervisor.
  • Promote a positive work environment for team that supports high employee morale and job satisfaction.
  • Understands the need and importance of flexibility to change job functions and/or schedules to meet the needs of the team and our patients
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you need to do the job:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2-3 years relevant experience
  • Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician registration required. PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certificate preferred. ASHP Accredited education preferred.
  • Willingness to obtain registration in Florida and Pennsylvania preferred.
  • Previous sterile compounding experience and USP 795, 797, and 800 knowledge is strongly preferred
  • Successful completion of initial training and periodic and validation/re-training as required by USP 795, 797, and 800
  • General PC knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within dispensing pharmacy
  • Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time and perform physical cleaning activities wearing a respirator and full-cover sterile garb
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, learn quickly, solve problems and make decisions
  • Ability and desire to assist team members and maintain flexibility as a team player
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, and a willingness to work a modified schedule (to eventually include Friday compounding) to accommodate heavy work volumes and holiday mix schedules as needed
  • Willingness to obtain out-of-state licensure and travel (<5% of time) to support business continuity needs
