Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager-Food Commercial, this is role is in a fast paced shared service Business Service Center (BSC).
You will be accountability for on-costs for Food, International and Clothing & Home sectors and reconciliation of key control accounts relating to on-costs (include freight, carriage, customs and excise duty).
You\'ll also be building positive relationships, remotely, with our Senior Finance team based in London and be playing a key role in supporting our London based teams in understanding the P&L impact of on-costs and providing in-depth analysis on variances to budget.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for reporting the P&L impact of on-cost lines across M&S business channels (including freight, carriage, customs and excise, and warehousing).
- Posting under and over recoveries relating to on-cost P&L lines within M&S business channel policies
- Ensure that all Balance Sheet accounts are fully understood, reconciled each month and are formally supported by independent data sources in line with M&S standards
- Build positive relationships with key business customers, having regular dialogue to continue to drive improved performance, both within the reporting team and the wider Business Service Centre
- Variance analysis on-cost lines to ensure key business partners are fully aligned to impact of under & over recoveries, proactively taking action to resolve complex reconciliation issues
- Provide support to colleagues in both London and BSC to communicate recommendations for adjustments to Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss accounts
- Responsible for internal and external audit requests across functional areas.
- Develop a continuous improvement culture within the team to ensure that the service is being delivered in the most effective way
- Accountable for implementing and performing comprehensive quality checks to continually improve the quality of output
- Full understanding of all business transactions and systems impacting on-costs across all channels
- Leading and directing key meetings with business partners where relevant
- Ensure a strong financial control environment is maintained
Key Skills
- Strong accounting skills with previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to resolve complex issues
- Confident comparing high volumes of data in different systems and providing insight from this
- Outstanding business partnering skills with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
- Able to deliver within agreed timeframes and effectively prioritise workload with a flexible & proactive approach
- Understanding of Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Experience of using SAP
