Role Summary
The People Operations Specialist is responsible for developing solutions to the management of employee data at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations to improve employee data management, processing, auditing and reporting.
Key Duties
Takes initiative to audit employee data, analyze for inconsistencies, and resolve issues to drive accurate reporting and data compliance for the HR team.
Processes employee job changes, including hires, terminations and company transfers.
Develops PeopleSoft (HRIS) queries and reports in response to employee data requests.
Makes recommendations on internal processes, including seniority roster maintenance, and wage scale step increases.
Applies knowledge of collective bargaining agreements to research and respond to employee data inquiries from labor and union representatives.
Develops thoughtful, clear and concise contractual or policy-based responses to employee questions and concerns.
Maintains vacation bidding reports and annual union and wage-scale contract increases. Investigates, tracks, and resolves system problems relating to employee data.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
2 years of experience in human resources, employee records, HR analytics or related area.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Proficient with Employee Records Information System principles, processes, and procedures.
Thorough understanding of business systems.
Demonstrates initiative, outstanding customer service skills, and a proven ability to learn quickly.
Detail oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the business needs.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience using PeopleSoft or similar HRIS.
PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
Familiar with collective bargaining agreements.
