The Data and Architecture Office (DAO) was formed in 2020, bringing together some of the critical services which are used by all GBGFs into one organisation. Established to transform HSBC into a truly data-driven organisation by ensuring that every design decision has a built-in data consideration.  As DAO we will provide leadership that enables data and analytics to be a key driver of our business strategy. Working closely to develop partnerships with senior stakeholders and delivery teams all over the world to connect the business processes, data, products, services, and technology that underpin customer value and financial success.

 

Business area overview

 

What you will be doing;

The People and Culture Specialist will sit within the Chief of Staff team and will be pivotal in driving the execution of the Connect pillar of our HSBC Data Strategy. The role holder will take a key role in design and execution across a breadth of deliverables including operating model and organisation design, building community and collaboration across our data professionals and talent management initiatives. The holistic outcome for the Chief of Staff team is to drive mindset and behavioural change across our organisation to enable HSBC to become truly data-led.

 

The role holder will partner with colleagues within the Chief of Staff team and the extended DAO function to increase the organisational excellence of the function and raise the professional excellence of Data and Business Architecture practitioners.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and implement components of the Data organisation operating model in conjunction with key stakeholders within DAO and the extended organisation.
  • Support the drive towards community and collaboration; developing a community of data professionals who collaborate across boundaries and share best practice / experience to build skills and expertise.
  • Define and implement Talent Management initiatives, in line with HR Guidance, that enable us to leverage our talent and provide clear career progression for our employees.
  • Maintain the level 1 Product and Service catalogue for DAO and the extended data organisation.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Chief of Staff team to progress broader initiatives including but not limited to; Academy & Learning (e.g. Data Literacy), Comms, Roles & Responsibilities definition and Job Family implementation.
  • Define and deliver insights and metrics that monitor our execution progress against the Connect pillar of the HSBC Data Strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and raising the standards of excellence across our Data organisation.
  • Support the execution of the operational cadence and integrity of the DAO function.

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

 

To be successful in this role you should have proven experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following skills:

 

  • Previous experience within a Chief of Staff, Chief Operating Officer, Practice or Chief Administrative function.
  • Familiarity with financial services organisations and more specifically HSBC’s structures, values, behaviours, processes and objectives.
  • Awareness of our external operating environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc. and the influence / impact it has on our decision-making.
  • Ability to distil and synthesis complex and varied data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Evidence of promoting positive change in processes, procedures, products, services etc. to deliver financial, people or efficiency goals.
  • Evidence of designing and implementing initiatives to increase professional excellence and capability across a breadth of roles within a matrixed organisation.
  • Strategic imperatives and best practice relating to strategic human resource management and associated frameworks (desirable).
  • Strong business acumen, judgement and expertise with an in-depth knowledge of organisational psychology and behaviour (desirable).
  • Experience within the professional discipline of Data and / or Business Architecture with a strong understanding of the value it provides to HSBC (desirable).

 

This role will primarily be London based but some travel may be required.
