Job Description

The Payroll Tax Specialist will be responsiblefor the payroll tax area focusing on ensuring the accuracy of Associates' payroll tax records (approximately 15K associates), and the proper funding of both Associates' direct deposits and payroll tax payments for each payroll.  This position ensures compliance to the P&O policies, payroll processes, internal controls, and legislative and legal requirements for the tax areas under the position's purview by supports the payroll tax components of initiatives and projects within the payroll area.

What are we looking for?

  • Four-year college degree; preferably in accounting/ finance
  • 1-3 years of accounting/payroll expreince
  • Payroll tax experience preferred

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Maintain accuracy of associate payroll tax records:
    • Coordinate domestic relocation processing of associate payments and include other relocation transactions.
    • Perform payroll tax gross-ups for approved transactions.
    • Include spouse travel expenses approved for reimbursement
    • Process “IRS lock-in letters” to ensure the associate’s federal taxes are withheld based on the IRS instructions.
    • Process associate’s state tax withholding requests received from PSS
    • Set up mandatory local taxes on associate’s tax records.
    • Audit associate’s tax set up to ensure compliance and modify if needed.
    • Update associate’s payroll records at year-end for additional income for W-2 reporting.
  • Prepare payroll funding reports to submit to Mars Treasury to verify payroll tax drawdown amounts & funding associate direct deposits.
  • Reconcile Payroll tax account.
  • Address tax fallouts from unregistered agencies and assist with the registration process.
  • Create and upload payroll taxes journal entries for all units.
  • Collaborate with other Payroll functional areas and internal stakeholders such as Global Mobility and MyP&O.
