In this position, the candidate will:
• Perform work as directed by senior staff that involves conventional hydrogeological procedures and coordinate input from other specialties for hydrogeologic data interpretation and to develop conceptual models.
• Conduct numerical groundwater flow modeling using commercial or public domain computer codes in support of engineering design, safety analysis studies, and environmental studies.
• Plan, coordinate and prepare specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations for ground investigation and material testing subcontractors.
• Supervise ground investigations, including well installation, aquifer testing, and water sampling.
• Review quantity estimates and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
• Review geotechnical subcontractor's reports and prepare comments and recommendations.
• Assist senior staff in preparing technical reports, calculations and presentations;
• Provide recommendations for geophysical surveys related to site investigation objectives.
• Develop and update design guides and specifications.
• Coordinate work between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, the client, suppliers, contractors and other divisional groups.
• Participate in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction.
• Travel to project sites on short- and long-term assignments, to other Bechtel offices, and to job sites in and outside the United States. Field work may be in challenging locations (e.g., extreme weather conditions and remote locations).
Basic Qualifications:
• Grade 25: An M.S. degree in Engineering Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering, or Geological Engineering, with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in Engineering Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering, or Geological Engineering and 3+ years of experience.
• Grade 26: An M.S. degree in Engineering Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering, or Geological Engineering, with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Ph.D. in Engineering Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering, or Geological Engineering and 5+ years of experience.
• Proficiency with computer applications such as (or equivalent to) MODFLOW, MODFLOW-SURFACT, Groundwater Vistas, Leapfrog, OpenGround, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, and Rocscience suite of software.
• Must also have experience in at least two of the following (in addition to engineering hydrogeology): Engineering Geology, Ground Investigation, Geological Mapping, Geophysics, Rock Mechanics/ Rock Engineering, and Geohazards.
• Proficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
• Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, memos, calculations, and other technical documentation.
• Willing and able to travel to and remain at jobsites in the U.S. and overseas on short- and long-term assignments.
• Professional registration (e.g., professional engineer, professional geologist)
• Legal right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Engineering Hydrogeology, Groundwater Engineering, or Geological Engineering.
• Experience working in karst and other limestone environments.
