- Salary Range: $123,486 - 178,596 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant. A 15% salary uplift is provided on top of base salary for positions that are worked in New York City, which is subject to change depending on market conditions.

Bechtel is seeking a Business Development Representative to join the Infrastructure Northeast US and Canada team.
Location: This position will be based at Bechtel’s New York City office (140 Broadway, New York, 10007).
Position Summary:
As a business development representative, the successful candidate will be responsible for assigned marketing and business development activities including strategic market assessments, prospect and customer analysis/engagement plans, competitor assessment, win plan development, teaming arrangements, proposal integration and internal approval documents. The position will report to the Regional Manager of Business Development and receives operational and functional supervision from the responsible Business Development Manager of a particular prospect.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes thinking and activities in support of Bechtel’s value proposition for customers, including differentiation within the value chain.
- Undertakes research of infrastructure market in the Northeast US and Canada. Recommends new segments that the company should actively pursue.
- Develops and maintains industry association and tracks competitor activities and business trends.
- Keeping informed of customers' present and future plans for growth, projects, and programmatic and technical requirements.
- Develops customer engagement plans based on detailed understanding of the customers’ objectives and priorities, as well as decision-making dynamics.
- For a specific prospect, performs necessary research on customer and competition, develops bid strategies, recommends teaming requirements, develops and implements win plan recommendations, and prepares and manages proposal budgets.
- Performs various calculations of a moderately complex nature to help analyze the financial background of targeted prospects.
- Supervises the preparation and coordination of proposals, including developing and managing proposal win plans and guiding market intelligence.
- Develops relationships with prospective teaming partners.
- Develops and maintains frequent contacts with middle management of customer, stakeholder organizations, and industry personnel.
- Supports the preparation of corporate approval documents related to business development.
- Integrates periodic status reports on key prospects.
Qualifications and Skills:
- General knowledge of the principles and techniques of developing business and sales including pre-positioning, targeting, shaping and prospect pursuit.
- Specific knowledge of public infrastructure competitive dynamics, with prior experience in proposal development and win plan strategies.
- Knowledge of current industry trends, including federal, state and local policies.
- Strong understanding and familiarity with public agencies’ procurement methods.
- Skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and Bechtel management.
- Understanding of company capabilities and services available to customers.
- Ability to sell Bechtel’s value proposition, execution approach and commercial positions to customers through knowledge and authenticity.
- Working knowledge of company policies related to the formulation and approval process for contracts and proposals.
- Self-directed, requires limited daily supervision or guidance.
- Proven ability to work effectively in fluid environments.
- Ability to influence internally without direct authority with strong covenant-based behavior. Works well with teams and other departments.
- Responsive to internal and external customers with consistent follow-up and follow-through.
- Good competence in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Additional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and 7+ years of relevant professional experience or 15 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
- Experience in prime contract negotiations to identify key risks and mitigation options.
