Job Purpose and Impact
The Packaging Department Supervisor will provide operations oversight for all production components of the Cedar Rapids facility packaging department. We seek a multifaceted professional to transform departmental goals into measurable results ensuring standards for all safety, quality and environmental aspects are met. This position works closely with all areas of the facility in supporting projects, including Manufacturing Technologies (MT), and Continuous Improvement (CI).
Key Accountabilities
- Develop deep technical knowledge of department processes and drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Develops and oversees operational plans and monitors routine operations for all production processes for multiple departments, processes, and shifts.
- Ensure ongoing review of key performance indicators with focus on continuous improvements in site operational targets.
- Partner collaboratively with appropriate centers of excellence including, but not limited to engineering and plant management, to provide input into the development of plant capital investment strategies.
- Oversee production outcomes, quantity, and quality to ensure customer and food safety requirements are within specifications.
- Partners with environment, health and safety and food safety, quality, and regulatory experts to identify the most effective approach for implementing and monitoring corporate safety policies and procedures.
- Oversee all operations from multiple departments, processes or shifts to ensure teams are following policies and procedures related to employee, food and feed safety and environmental compliance.
- Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR minimum of four years related work experience including direct supervision
- Willingness and ability to work in a challenging and physical production environment
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving, continuous improvement and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written within multiple levels of the organization
- Experience in manufacturing & reliability concepts
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of packaging equipment, 50lb bags, supersacks, bulk truck and rail
- Two years of supervisory experience, including employee hiring and retention, performance review
- Lean six sigma
- Working knowledge of Food Safety, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental regulations
