role purpose

The OSS Operations team of technology professionals manage and effectively operate the systems within the Converged Network arena.  We are looking for a dynamic & proactive individual who can support the increasing demand for automation and transformation activities within Technology operations. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality OSS into Operations in conjunction with delivery teams, providing subject matter expertise in one or more key OSS and driving operational improvement.  The ambition being to drive a step change in Digital, customer service centric OSS Operations.

Responsibilities

•    Incident/Service Request fulfilment
•    ITIL Coordination across OSS
•    Resolution, build and deliver on Service Automation & Digital capability as defined by Technology Operations strategy.
•    Participate in the technical delivery of projects in the team. 
•    You will contribute to the technical strategy and team discussions on system architecture, component design and improvements. 
•    You will liaise with product, business, and 3rd parties to identify how we can drive improvements in the quality of our products and services. 
•    Ensure through Ops Readiness process OSS can be accepted in to support aligned with TO OSS Monitoring and Automation strategy.
•    You will participate in all stages of the DevOps lifecycle of Service Improvements and OSS
•    Support manager to define and drive technical roadmap for team.
•    Identify opportunities to expand our digital estate to improve service delivered to our customers.
•    Analysing reports/tools to ensure data accuracy and manage plan to resolution where inaccuracies exist.
•    Work with stakeholders develop and improve tools and services to support their ways of working.
•    Support the team to maintain and manage the OSS Monitoring and Automations.
•    Support OSS in personal development of technical skills. 
 

Who are we looking for?

•    Knowledge of OSS Operations and experience working with Linux
•    Experience working with coding and query languages – preferably inc. Bash, PowerShell, Python, Ansible (YAML), SQL, MySQL
•    Experience working with code versioning repositories – preferably GIT
•    Working understanding of Mobile & Fixed Networks
•    Ability to influence, negotiate with and persuade internal and external customers.
•    Comfortable communicating with customers/senior stakeholders at all levels in the organisation,
•    Sound MS Office skills (with strong ability in Excel)
•    Developed Analytical Skills
•    Python knowledge, specifically interacting with databases
•    Familiarity of SQL (both MS SQL Server and Oracle PL/SQL) and using analytical functions within it
•    Analytical mindset/ability to diagnose problems across multiple systems
•    Strong OSS Operations Experience
•    Working knowledge of ITIL is desirable
