As a member of the People Strategy Design & Enablement Team, the Organization Design Strategist will work with senior business executives (incl. C-Level) across Truist to provide thought leadership and drive resolutions to their most pressing organization strategy and people related business challenges, including organization design and strategic off-shoring initiatives. A successful candidate will enable both short and long-term business success in collaboration with partners in HR and throughout the business. This position is flexible on location and will include some business travel.
Essential responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior executives and HR business partners (HRBPs) to identify, define, and deliver on strategic organizational options to increase operational excellence, in alignment with Truist’s corporate organizational strategy, HR strategy, and purpose, mission, and values
- Work as part of a wider team to provide strategic, pragmatic recommendations to the CHRO and other C-Level leaders at Truist, using data to tell the story and gain consensus on complex human capital needs
- Drive solutions and enable success to complex human capital needs, both independently and with internal (HRBPs, Data & Analytics, Change & Enablement, etc.) and external partners (strategic consultancies, etc.)
- Develop a consistent, standardized approach to organization design across the enterprise, including ongoing iteration of org design toolkit and user-friendly resources based on review and synthesis of internal resources and external research/best practices
- Train and provide ongoing coaching to HRBPs on practical application of org design toolkit and how to apply tools with their business leaders for small-to-medium complexity org design projects
- Lead and consult directly on more complex org design projects with significant business impact and/or risk, in partnership with HRBPs and business leaders
- Apply expertise and organization understanding to integrate business solutions for complex operational problems, including enterprise process redesign, on-shoring/off-shoring, etc.
- Understand and take action to create connections of the strategic linkages between the wider HR imperatives of developing talent, culture, leadership, and operational excellence
- Accelerate project execution and realization of results through rapid iteration, challenging assumptions, working flexibly, and thinking innovatively
- Support strategic change management needs on large-scale projects
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 8+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience
- Deep knowledge and experience of working with various organization design and effectiveness models
- Experience with on-shoring/off-shoring initiatives, including establishing strategic HR support model
- Strategy background with demonstrated experience balancing complex, competing priorities across a large organization
- Strategic and analytical thinker with strong executive coaching, influencing, and change skills
- Ability to blend quantitative and qualitative data to drive to recommended course of action and influence others to adopt a new perspective by using data to tell a story
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills across all levels of an organizationÂ
- Teammate focused mindset with a curiosity and desire to get to the heart of any issue to seek improvements
- Good knowledge of HR operating models, frameworks, and business models across financial services and other industries
- Ability to interpret internal and external business challenges and implement best practices to improve products, processes, or services
- Ability to lead projects of significant complexity/risk exposure and adjust in-the-moment to meet the needs of partners and end-users
- Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of business objectives and priorities
- Ability to embrace the unknown and have courage to fail
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate degree in applicable field of study
- Knowledge of financial services competitive landscape and an understanding of the market and regulatory factors that shape the industry
- Formal project management training or certification (PMI)
