Operator II
The Packaging Machine Operator is responsible and accountable for assuring all finished product is packaged according to Q&FS specifications and QMP standards in support of The Nutro Company’s Quality and Food Safety principles.
Principal Accountabilities
- Adhere to personal safety practices that meet OSHA & Mars standards to assure a safe environment for yourself and others. Maintain open communication with site safety committee and site safety manager.
- Operate within specified efficiency/productivity standards based on formulation and packaging capability and within established finished product Q&FS specifications for each formula.
- Perform packaging evaluation (hourly checks), and maintain accurate documentation as defined by QMP and site requirements.
- Perform packaging equipment adjustments and preventative maintenance activities as defined in SOPs to assure finished packages are in compliance with Q&FS specifications and QMP standards.
- Perform a daily audit of all equipment with the operators to assure a safe and productive/efficient operation is being achieved.
- Adhere to the master sanitation program as defined by Sanitation SOPs.
- Maintain continuous communication with site functional teams to assure complete awareness of the manufacturing process in compliance with Q&FS and performance objectives.
- Participate in the development, revision, and training of mission critical competencies as related to the responsibilities and accountabilities of the position.
- Participate and adhere to all food safety requirements, Quality Management Processes, and site safety programs ensuring that all standards are met.

Functional Accountabilities
- Operate packaging equipment within functional area of responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Perform process testing, evaluate results, and make necessary adjustments maintaining process control within Q&FS and QMP guidelines.
- Assure the packaging equipment and all supporting processes are in compliance with Q&FS, QMP, and performance objectives at the following process flow points. This is subject to change based on operational requirements.

Requirements and Preferred Experience
Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Effective verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
Preferred
- Minimum of one year pet food and/or food manufacturing experience.
Physical Requirements
- Sufficient mobility, strength, flexibility, hearing, and sight to access all job relevant areas and perform routine activities as necessary to deliver required results.
- Some pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) necessary
