WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Facilitate successful go-live of production line through partnering and liaising between program level project team and plant operations organization.  This will occur through development and successful execution of project plan based on stakeholder and customer needs and overall program timeline. 
  • Manages the development and implementation process of organization’s long-term objective by involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing processes.
  • Estimates project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working to understand scope of effort.
  • Prepares project plans, schedules, and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.
  • Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.
  • Assures project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with Operations and project team to develop and execute project plans.
  • Communicates project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
  • Resolves project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate. Consults with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge with potential to assist or mentor more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.
  • Participates in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.
  • Understands business environment and relates and applies technical expertise and knowledge to project at hand. 
  • Interfaces with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.
  • May lead a project team. Plans and organizes project assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Provides technical expertise to organization.
  • Acts as a mentor to less-experienced team members or project contributors and may provide work direction or indirectly supervise other technical employees.
  • Initiates or maintains schedule for projects and project milestones.
  • Establishes priorities of individual or project assignments. Selects methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.
  • Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
  • Accountable for providing excellent customer service to the production teams and meeting compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in project management within same or similar industry,
  • Related work experience with a complete understanding of specified functional area.
  • Exercises judgment independently.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a particular technological field. Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/ relationships. Will perform this job in a quality system environment. Failure to adequately perform tasks can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Has broad knowledge of various technical alternatives and their potential impact on the business.


PREFERRED

  • Work experience in the food / medical industry under FDA regulation highly desirable
