Job summary

The Global Product Safety and Compliance team is responsible for establishing and administering a program that ensures product safety and enables compliance of Amazon’s Product Selection. The program is designed to protect our customers, our brands and Amazon with the commitment to only sell products that are safe for customer use and meet or exceed Amazon’s compliance requirements.

We are looking for an energetic, hard-working, and creative candidate to join our team as an Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in cross-functional program management and execution. You will work directly with the Safety and Compliance Program team, Compliance Operations team (C-Ops), Retail, 3rd party Service Providers, Sourcing and Quality Operations, Technical teams, and vendors to drive compliance initiatives and efficiencies.

Key job responsibilities

The position is responsible for leading and executing projects for Private Brand product safety programs. You will gather and facilitate product classification, product testing and develop SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). You will manage individual and team performance expectations and goals, provide individual coaching feedback sessions, maintain and improve quality and throughput of data and monitor real-time productivity to monthly deliverables. You will develop the milestones and program schedule to ensure timely and successful delivery of the projects and gather the necessary metrics to identify trends, initiate and oversee escalations and report results.

A day in the life

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Manage day-to-day operations of a team including daily productivity, SLAs, resource planning and reporting
• Ensure productivity is maximized through supervision, training, analysis, and feedback of performance data on a periodic basis
• Develop strong relationships with compliance team and internal and external business team stakeholders to lead escalations through to resolution, proactively anticipate customer needs, investigate underlying issues and create short and long-term solutions.
• Make appropriate trade-offs to manage risk, and clearly communicate roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to scope and deliver complex solutions.
• Strong commitment towards goals and outcomes to ensure completion within established timeframes.
• Prepare and deliver monthly and quarterly business reviews regarding progress and state of health for the program
• Drive improvement in efficiency and accuracy

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4+ years of experience as an Operations, Project or Program Manager in a manufacturing, retail environment, supply chain management or product compliance industry.
• Relentless drive for results, even in ambiguous and fast paced environments
• Demonstrated ability to challenge the status-quo and champion best-in-class solutions and problem-solving
• Able to work independently and continually calibrate priorities with minimal supervision
• Ability to execute projects requiring cross-organizational alignment and prioritization
• Demonstrated experience creating sustainable processes with mechanisms used to ensure compliance with process
• Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
