Job Description

Driving success at the Fire Service College as an Operational Support Assistant:

The Fire Service College have an exciting opportunity to join their friendly and professional team as an Operational Support Assistant. Within this role you will ensure the efficient and effective set up of the training activities and maintenance of the equipment.

Setting up the exercises and maintaining the equipment this role is essential to the smooth running of the training courses that the college deliver.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Setting up all types of exercises, ignition of materials and clearing away of the resultant debris.

  • To clean and service Operational Support equipment.

  • To service or clean all breathing apparatus sets, cylinders and ancillary equipment as required.

  • To recharge and inspect used cylinders, maintaining records of all test and maintenance.

  • General driving duties, both on and off-site, to include delivery and collection of fire appliances and other vehicles.

  • Ensure that Red Fleet vehicles are equipped and all Incident Ground training aids ready for use.

  • Tasks include but not limited to:

  • Cleaning, drying and re-stowing as required, of all Operational Support equipment on fire appliances and Specialist vehicles

  • Ability to meet targets and strict deadlines.

  • Attention to detail, highly organised and efficient approach to tasks.

  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products.
