Job Description
The Omni Customer Marketing Manager - Walmart is based in Bentonville, AR and responsible for building brand equity and driving demand at key retailers through insights led media to shelf commerce activations. With an omni shopper mindset, the Omni Shopper Marketing Manager must deliver overall business goals for both the brand and the retailer by developing and implementing strategies that engage shoppers through the full path to purchase and across all commerce channels. Charged with driving joint value creation, the candidate is required to seamlessly and effectively partner cross functionally, set vision for success, influence to drive impact and motivate multiple internal and external stakeholders. The Omni Customer Marketing Manager is also responsible for efficiently managing our agency partners within the outlined SOW, maximizing allocated budgets and agency resources.
As the complexity of the commerce landscape is rapidly evolving, this candidate will need to see through intricate and ambiguous situations to find solutions which drive the most value. This role will also require strong analytical and financial acumen, the ability to manipulate data from multiple sources, and an understanding of how to optimize strategies and executions leveraging performance metrics.
The Primary Responsibilities Include:
Retailer Focused Commerce Marketing Strategy
- Own the development for the annual strategy for Commerce Marketing media to shelf plan at Walmart with cross functional partners
- Identifying retailer opportunities and partnering with customer teams to link them to brand objectives
- Identifying key brand objectives for activation at retail and providing funding recommendations
- Leading annual planning for WMC JBP and overall Walmart commerce marketing, based on priorities, insights and ROI results
- Developing annual planning timelines, templates, collecting submissions and building recommended plans and budgets
- Managing the ongoing communication of program performance and budget utilization to key stakeholders across the organization
- Managing a team of two shopper marketing managers (dotted line reports) and commerce marketing agency team members responsible for Walmart strategy development and execution
- Act as a voice of the shopper and retailer to internal key stakeholders:
- Providing feedback on the development of a Walmart reason to believe, how current communication strategies can be translated to fit within the retailer environment, partnering with the brand and sales teams to develop programs that drive equity while meeting the sales team requirements for sell in
- Understanding the retailer landscape – ongoing situation analysis & communicating key changes/challenges to key stakeholders internally
- A deep understanding of Walmart ecosystem including Walmart marketing, Walmart Connect and merchant dynamics
- Acting as a voice of the brand to Walmart customer team stakeholders
Retailer Focused eComm Strategy
- Continue the 360 omni shopper engagement strategy by collaborating to deliver the annual eCommerce approach at Walmart with cross functional partners
- Drive the digital component of the shopper journey (pre store, in store, or offer delivered) to convert shoppers to buyers
- Use retailer digital platforms to promote and amplify in store experience
- Partner with subject matter experts to optimize search tactics to better reach the consumer during key decision windows
Job Complexity:
- Providing strategic commerce marketing thought leadership across for the organization
- Managing communication, financials, and alignment across a broad set of cross functional partners
- Managing changes in plan based on retail / operations sell in and execution
- Developing “white space†opportunities and bringing concepts to execution
- Ensuring vendors / agencies are delivering on strategic objectives
- Elevate omni commerce marketing function and establish center of excellence in market for Colgate
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in Sales, Shopper Marketing, or Marketing
- CPG experience - preferred
- Bachelor's degree required
- Deep Channel, Customer, and Category Knowledge
- Energized by a challenge to disrupt the status quo
- Self-starter, independent thinker, action oriented, and passionate about brand/shopper marketing
- Strong strategic business acumen and marketing capabilities
- Solid project/program management skills
- Analytically inclined with the ability to link seemingly disparate pieces of information
- Detail oriented, reliable, resourceful and driven for results professional
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to effectively present ideas and concepts to groups of varying levels internally and externally
- Ability to contribute, influence and work effectively in a cross-functional matrix organization
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize/work effectively under pressure
