Position Summary

 Work you’ll do 

  • Deloitte is assisting the client in Vietnam continue its transition to a clean, secure and market-based energy sector by increasing the deployment of advanced energy systems, improving energy sector performance, and increasing competition in the energy sector. In support of this goal, the Objective Lead will work with key Vietnamese power sector agencies, as well as with local and international private sector actors, to improve energy sector policy, planning, operations, and investments, with a focus on clean energy and advanced energy systems. The Objective Lead will provide technical leadership and management oversight of local and international project staff and subcontractors, and will report to the Chief of Party
  • Responsibilities will include providing technical assistance on some or all of the following: power sector planning activities; power sector modeling of grid stability, reliability, and flexibility; capacity building of power system operators in integrating variable renewable energy and other advanced energy technologies in coordination with relevant global entities; support changes in electricity market, policy, incentive, and tariff design; managing a team of 10+ local and international staff and subcontracts and collaborating with cross-cutting project areas.

 Qualifications 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • You must have valid work authorization for the country where you will be working, and to the extent required by such country’s laws and regulations provide Deloitte documentation verifying your identity and employment authorization
  • Ten or more years of experience working in one or more of the following areas: Energy sector planning and operations, Wholesale and retail electricity markets, Clean energy policy and regulation, Natural gas policies, regulations, and markets, Energy project development and transaction support, Emerging energy technologies or Climate change policy
  • This is an long-term resident advisor position based in Hanoi, Vietnam

 Preferred:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., Master’s level) in energy, engineering, energy economics, development economics, sustainability, or related field
  • Experience working on donor-funded energy sector activities; 
  • Experience working internationally; Southeast Asia preferred
  • Experience and willingness to work closely with foreign government officials in developing countries
  • Demonstrated team-oriented leadership and team-development capability
  • Experience managing cross-functional, multi-cultural teams to deliver high quality work on time and within budget
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong English fluency required
