The North American Safety, Security and Business Continuity Planning Director​, based out of Grand Rapids, MI, leads North American personnel safety, asset protection, and physical security for all Gordon Food Service entities (Warehousing, Transportation, Stores, Specialty Companies, and Corporate offices). Develops and owns Corporate Business Continuity Planning (BCP), working with key Subject Matter Experts from each business unit to ensure robust and consistent standards are in place to mitigate and respond to potential business interruptions. Leads a team of direct and indirect reports that build and own strategy, develop the training and standards, manage the execution and compliance, and drive a root cause corrective action / continuous improvement and innovation culture. In addition, this role is responsible for ensuring that Gordon Food Service is in compliance with local, state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Partners with leaders across the organization to establish a vision and strategy that places the safety and security of our employees first.
Leads Continuous Improvement initiatives regarding EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) policies and programs Delivers fire protection and security systems that protect property from loss, and serves as liaison with insurance company inspectors; coordinates responses to recommendations.
Establishes environmental emergency response plans; manages the execution of response in the event of an environmental emergency.
Accountable for designing and conducting EHS inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health and safety requirements as well as driving a true culture of safety.
Our leading candidate will have:
15 plus years of operational experience in manufacturing, transportation, warehousing, and/or distribution, with an emphasis on physical security, personnel safety and asset protection with a large multi-location organization.
Demonstrated capability in organizational leadership required.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent required.
Bachelors degree in Safety Management or Environmental Health or related field required.
Masters degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
The ability to travel within US and Canada.
