About the Team

Integration and Architecture Assessment Team provide:

  • Early impact assessment on complex project and Domain Roadmaps – inputs to plan of intents.
  • Consultancy to internal NSE and external stakeholders on Technical Landscape and Solutions for use in Product Feasibility, RFP production and preparation and external Bid support.
  • Support Front Door reviews for new complex, cross domain deliveries and provide NSE approval as appropriate.
  • Understand the Strategic Direction of the NSE Architecture and ensure consultancy provided supports the vision.

 

About the role

The Network Architect is a cross functional technical lead for architecture assessment of complex projects within Major Programmes.  Working as part of a team of Network and Security Architects, the primary focus is to scope and provide estimates for projects, provide early impact assessment on complex project and domain roadmaps.  Providing consultancy to internal NSE and external stakeholders on technical landscape and solutions for use in product feasibility, RFP production/preparation and external bid support.  Support front door reviews for new, complex, cross domain deliveries and provide NSE approval, together with managing technical escalations as appropriate. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Scope and provide estimates for projects, pulling together and defining all technical deliverables from architecture through to design, identifying major tasks/deliverables, skill sets, and resource effort required.
  • Provide detailed solutions, identifying technical prerequisites and inter-dependencies.
  • Provide network technical consultancy for NSE with the aim of shaping and scoping network and security solutions.
  • Provide a contact point for answering ad-hoc questions on any networking or security subject.
  • Liaison and consultation with Technical Design Authorities across the organisation.
  • Providing technical input to Impact Assessment requests.
  • Support the EngageIP Front Door process.
  • Responding to new ANC (Authority for Network Change – security policy/firewall rules)/Change Management submissions – approving, rejecting, and obtaining clarifications.
  • Investigating and resolving ANC related problems involving new connectivity.
  • Authoring and maintaining controlled documents.
  • Interface with project stakeholders to understand and contribute to architecture and engineering deliverables.
  • Cross functional management of technical deliverables within defined SLAs, helping to identify relevant technical ownership and accountability.
  • Engaging key stakeholders to clarify and facilitate technical requirements delivery.
  • Identify technical prerequisites/dependencies between functions and across workstreams.
  • Support technical analysis across CTO functions including networks and BAU teams.
  • Engaging with vendors around technical solutions and specific deliverables for projects or programmes.

 

What We Need from You:

Essential Skills:

  • Detailed technical knowledge of three or more of the following network domains: IP and MPLS/BGP (Multi-Protocol Layer Switching) Ethernet based access, core, voice, entertainment, fibre and power systems, platforms, equipment, and infrastructure, DOCSIS and XGS-PON based access, Photonic (optical) Networking.
  • Emphasis is placed on experience in and knowledge of the telecommunications landscape, together with experience of the end-to-end product lifecycle, in addition to technical delivery.  This experience could have been gained in technical, operational, product management, and/or delivery roles.
  • Experience in Public Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure) and software development methods (container-based network function virtualisation), development and operational life cycle.
  • Vendor management: shows experience and skills in managing and monitoring vendors, and vendor relationship management.  Practical experience with one or more of the following equipment vendors: Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Ciena, F5, ChekPoint, Fortinet, VMWare, Nokia, Infinera, Ciena.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed, as well as experience in communicating, persuading, and influencing at senior stakeholder level.
  • Self-motivated and proactive in the working environment.
  • Excellent organisational and delivery skills.
  • Able to work dynamically and with a few projects at any one time.
