Job Description

The National Contract Performance Manager will be responsible for the strategic oversight and financial management of the highest spend national facility systems.  This will include but is not limited to developing specific financial plans and targets as well as performance plans for each of the overall systems as well as each contract within the system. Though this role will only directly manage a portion of the contracts, they will be responsible for coordinating with other contractors and service staff to ensure the execution of the overall strategy. In addition to these responsibilities, this role will lead and participate in other key facility reimbursement and affordability initiatives. It will be necessary for this role to interpret internal and external issues and recommend solutions and/or best practices. He/she will provide leadership and technical expertise while coordinating this work with other departments within behavioral operations along with other organizations within the enterprise.

  • Create an overall contract strategy for each of the designated national systems which includes but is not limited to renegotiation and performance plans.
  • Collaborate with Network informatics to develop financial plans and targets for each system as well as for each contract within the system in order to ensure budget and unit cost targets are met.
  • Manage all financial and administrative tasks for the highest dollar contracts of the designated systems and coordinate with the other contractors who manage any additional contracts within these systems.
  • Identify and execute or coordinate additional facility or clinic initial contracting and or repapering opportunities within these systems.
  • Initiate discussions with the national system’s leadership to determine performance improvement opportunities as well as partnership opportunities to pilot and contract new clinical or service models.
  • Partner with other matrix partners such as Provider Relations, Regional Analysts, Credentialing and the Commercial and Medicare contractors to not only ensure they understand the strategy and approach with these national systems but to mitigate and/or resolve service issues.
  • Participate and/or lead assigned facility reimbursement and affordability initiatives.
  • Assist behavioral contract leadership with any other key initiatives such as, but not limited to, performance meeting process, provider segmentation, government contracting, value based contracting and/or case rate models.

Knowledge, skills and work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s preferred in health care or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in commercial and/or Medicare and/or Medicaid managed care contracting; behavioral experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Knowledge of alternative contract methods, such as but not limited: product segmentation, value based contract or case rate models.
  • Strong understanding of contract language and must be comfortable with high dollar and complex negotiations.
  • Exercise considerable creativity, foresight, and judgment in conceiving, planning, and delivering initiatives with proven leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong analytical with the ability to solve complex problems as well as able to able to think strategically while understanding how specific decisions impact overall vision/mission.
  • Comfortable with raising questions, issues, ideas or suggestions across all levels of the organization and uses deep professional knowledge and acumen to advise functional leaders.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of $97,300 - $162,100, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
