Job purpose

BorgWarner is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a NA Product Line Leader, Diesel/Reman at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.

The NA Product Line Leader is responsible for supporting and executing the product management plans and projects for the Diesel and Remanufactured Product lines. This person will work closely with the NA Reman organization, Global Product Managers as well as global and regional functional areas within the business, suppliers and customers to bring new products to our customers and execute on NA strategic projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Supervise Reman Direct Purchasing to ensure timely delivery of purchased components or cores needed to execute on the diesel and reman product strategy and regional requirements.
  • Create working relationships with potential suppliers and work with Engineering to develop cost down initiatives
  • Execute on strategies for core procurement, perform annual market cost reviews for product/core, analyze BOM’s for accuracy/adjustments
  • Coordinate cross functional team ensuring processes are followed efficiently, deliverables are aligned, and the team is focused on the same BBP objectives.
  • Provide support to regional commercial vehicle OES and IAM sales team for diesel and reman products.
  • Create pricing and profit strategy to achieve business financial goals, determine opportunities for value-add content to better service the installer
  • Work with Commercial teams on annual by part number forecast and category plans with focus on Customer Business plans and Business Unit annual plan 
  • Determine need for product/market research and needed funding
  • Develop product lifecycle strategy, timing related to new/reman/reclaim initiatives, identify New to Range product opportunities and work with Purchasing or Engineering on business case
  • Communicate and collaborate with regional sales and marketing teams to support and share information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.
  • Provide customer support as required, participate in key customer meetings as needed
  • Support and execute other related projects as assigned.
  • Lead by example; be a role model of Borg Warner values: Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence Responsibility and Cooperation.
  • Lead or coordinate with various interdepartmental teams to execute diesel and reman product projects on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency. Outline the tasks involved in the project and delegate accordingly
  • Conduct financial analysis, estimating expected costs and financial returns from the project.
  • Review and conduct related risk assessments; report identified risks to management; provide recommendations for mitigation of risk.
  • Address questions, concerns, and complaints throughout the project and act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders

What we’re looking for

  • 3-5 years experience in Commercial environment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering.
  • In depth knowledge of product management
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, keen attention to details and deadlines.
  • Project & Change Management – Demonstrable ability to develop & facilitate projects, within given parameters.
  • Collaboration – Ability to lead multi-functional teams to work in a matrix organization
  • Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities with a can-do attitude, ability to work under pressure and respond quickly and positively to opportunities
  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude and influencing skills
  • Organizational and leadership skills / Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to establish a high-performance ethic and culture that is committed to growth, change and consistent achievement of clear and challenging objectives.
  • Exceptional judgement – knowing when to escalate and when to deal with an issue directly
  • Commercial acumen and a passion to drive the strategic plans forward, able to analyze and produce reports and recommendations
  • Builds trust with key stakeholders and understand the commercial perspective
  • Language - English. Additional languages would be beneficial.
