Job Description
Engie are looking for a Minor Works Operative to join our team in Normanton Depot, Altofts Road, WF6 2XA. This is a full-time permanent role offering a salary banding of £23,000 - £28,000 depending on skills and experience.
What will you deliver?
- Carry out excavations by hand, where mechanical plant cannot be used, unblocking, relaying or renewing of pipework to drains, sewers and underground ducting, ensuring appropriate levels or ‘falls’ are applied.
- Set out and build manholes in brickwork or PCC sections and fix manhole covers, ensuring finished site levels are maintained.
- Installation of street signage
- Excavate footpaths, drives and playgrounds to appropriate depth, set out levels, lay sub base and kerbs, paving, concrete areas, block paving, tarmac etc. to set levels/contours. Construct walling and steps as required.
- Set out and construct ramps for disabled access to properties.
- Remove existing and replace concrete floors including finish to pre-existing levels.
- Demolition work and site proprietary work.

Who are we looking for?
- NRWSA (street works)
- Preferably undertaken formal training in the use of light plant and mounted abrasive wheels.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a team member.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal/written instructions.
- Ability to liaise and work with clients and members of the public.
- Ability to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work overtime if required.
- Ability to travel between the depot and work locations.
