We are seeking a Mid-Level Packaging Engineering Specialist (Level 3) to support Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, Washington, with possible support as required to other Puget Sound locations.
TWL supports operations and strategy in logistics, warehousing, and reusable packaging engineering. TWL projects are expansive across the Boeing enterprise, affecting all business units, and have immediate impacts on financial results. This team operates much like a start-up with good ideas moving quickly into operations. Joining TWL will introduce you to the company’s many operations requiring logistics support.
Our Packaging Engineering Specialists are hard-working, goal-oriented and creative, and we are looking for this new team member to participate in every level of design and orientation.
Position Responsibilities:
Under general supervision and direction, establishes and provides written justification to evaluate equipment features and determines the most cost effective option.
Coordinates and provides property controls and enters into calibration cycle through metrology departments to maintain accuracy of the equipment.
Following approval, submits request and justification in accordance with company procedures or policy.
Assists equipment procurement by researching and investigating the requirements/applications for material handling equipment to improve capabilities in order to evaluate quotations from potential suppliers of equipment.
Processes billing and cost charge, and prepare budget and justification for equipment.
Under general supervision, maximizes efficiencies and implements improvements for cost effective worldwide distribution and storage by considering practical packaging and/or handling applications.
Provides logistics support analysis by applying established company policies and procedures in accordance with domestic and international laws.
Develops warehousing material flow, equipment layout, and capital budget to store assembly and support materials.
Assists in calculating volume, storage requirements, quantity and type of storage and handling equipment needed for high efficiency, low cost warehouse operations.
Under general supervision, maintains employee awareness for hazardous materials general familiarization, function specific, and safety requirements by providing walk-through support to meet federal and international regulations.
Oversees the training and compliance for the implementation of HM-232 (Hazardous Materials Security Plans) for the receiving, storing and shipping of hazardous materials (dangerous goods).
Under general supervision, evaluates, classifies and develops packaging instructions for hazardous materials.
Plans the markings, labeling, packaging, and documentation for shipments in compliance with Federal, State, and International regulations.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
3+ years of experience reading & interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
3+ years of experience in packaging or in an engineering role
Experience working with CAD/CAM software
Experience using professional written and verbal communication skills to achieve deliverables
Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree
3+ years of experience with packaging engineering
3+ years of experience in dangerous goods, regulations and assessments
3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with Solidworks/Catia
Experience working independently
Analytical and design skills
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master + 4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).
