Job Description

The Senedd Commission is responsible for providing the services needed by the Senedd to fulfil its parliamentary functions.

Communicating with the people of Wales is a key strategic function, especially engaging with the young people of Wales.

The Senedds Education and Youth Engagement Team provides a range of educational programmes on the Senedds estate and in educational establishments across Wales to accomplish the three key aims of the Senedds Charter for Children and Young People. The first aim is to inspire more young people to participate in the Senedds work. The second is to offer more opportunities to discuss and ensure that young peoples opinions are considered by Members of the Senedd. The third aim is to provide feedback, ensure that young people see the value of engaging with the Senedds work.

The Senedd is committed to provide opportunities for children and young people to engage and learn about the work of the Senedd. This role focuses on providing an outreach programme including both face to face and online engagement for young people in mid and west Wales, there will also be opportunities to contribute to events across Wales. There will be an opportunity to review our current programmes and to develop provision in line with the Youth Engagement Manager.

The post-holder will work with colleagues in the Education and Youth Engagement department to support the work of Wales Youth Parliament, and will play a key role in supporting young representatives. The postholder will play an important role in organising meetings and events for the representatives in mid and west Wales, including residential weekends in Cardiff.

The successful applicant will be accountable to the Youth Engagement Team Manager, and will work with others within the team, with responsibility for the Welsh Youth Parliament programme.
