JOB SUMMARY Assists the Director of Security in managing security operations on a daily basis. Areas of responsibilities include the protection and safety of property assets, employees, guests and property, accident and fire prevention and response. Ensures the continuous protection of guests, employees and hotel assets. Maintains logs, certifications and documents required by law and Standard Operating Procedures. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience \u2022 High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area. OR \u2022 2-year degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice or related major; 1 year experience in the security/loss prevention or related professional area. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Managing Security Operations \u2022 Assists in the development and implementation of emergency procedures. \u2022 Recommends follow-up action for security breaches. \u2022 Conducts investigation of all losses of property assets and refers to proper management for disposition. \u2022 Deploys security staff to effectively monitor and protect property assets. \u2022 Complies with all Corporate Security safety and security management guidelines and procedures. \u2022 Completes proper documentation and reports all employee accident and general liability incidents to Claims Reporting Service. \u2022 Conducts periodic patrols of entire property and parking areas. \u2022 Recognizes success across areas of responsibility. \u2022 Handles guest problems and complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others. \u2022 Identifies and makes recommendations for minimizing physical hazards and unsafe work practices. \u2022 Implements action plans to monitor and control risk. \u2022 Keeps abreast of local criminal activity as it may impact property. \u2022 Maintains required reports and documentation regarding patrols of property and parking areas. \u2022 Inspects all security equipment and ensures it is fully functioning. \u2022 Provides means for obtaining necessary medical attention on a timely basis. \u2022 Conducts hourly employee performance appraisals according to Standard Operating Procedures. \u2022 Identifies the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others. \u2022 Completes disciplinary procedures and documentation according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supports the Peer Review Process. \u2022 Maintains first aid and CPR certifications required for Security officers. \u2022 Implements local authority requirement for security and safety. Leading Security Teams \u2022 Attends pre- and post-convention and weekly forecast meetings to understand group needs and gather critical information to communicate to security officers. \u2022 Celebrates successes by publicly recognizing the contributions of team members. \u2022 Communicates the importance of safety procedures, detailing procedure codes, ensuring employee understanding of safety codes, monitoring processes and procedures related to safety. \u2022 Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example. \u2022 Solicits employee feedback, utilizes an "open door" policy and reviews employee satisfaction results to identify and address employee problems or concerns. \u2022 Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. \u2022 Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills. \u2022 Provides guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. \u2022 Provides personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients. \u2022 Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors. Additional Responsibilities \u2022 Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems. \u2022 Develops and maintains a working relationship with local law enforcement authorities. \u2022 Informs and/or updates the executives, the peers and the subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner. \u2022 Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. \u2022 Provides guidance in setting health and safety policies and standards. \u2022 Coordinates with Event Sales for VIP escort and media control for large events.
