The Driveline Purchasing Manager will provide strategic leadership in meeting the Driveline Business Unit’s goals and objectives by ensuring the timely and cost effective purchase and delivery of direct materials. Responsible for managing the buying team in the selection, negotiation, and management of all vendors and suppliers while developing and administering processes, procedures, and standards for global purchasing.
Job Responsibilities:
Develops and implements global supply base for Meritor’s Driveline Business.
•Works collaboratively with program team to develop and implement sourcing strategies on-time and below the budget.
•Develop and communicate long and short term global strategies and objectives, including adherence to the purchasing budget.
•Provides mentoring and coaching for the team; identifies and evaluates talent.
•Maintains adherence to global policies and procedures.
•Negotiates vendor agreements with suppliers and obtains competitive bids; works with Legal to finalize agreements, as required.
•Plans and implements cost-reduction programs that maintain quality and customer satisfaction while meeting company and purchasing savings objectives.
•Collaboratively set and achieve Business Unit cost reduction goals
•Leads staff in the purchasing of materials and conferring with internal customers to clarify program requirements.
•Directs the purchasing process and develops effective partnerships with suppliers to ensure the procurement of specified commodities to price, quality, and reliability.
•Provides executive management decision-making information by preparing, submitting, and interpreting regular procurement and usage reports.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field required
• Minimum of 5 years Purchasing experience required, 7 – 10 years preferred
• Expertise in the knowledge and application of full-cycle procurement strategy principles, policies and procedures and supply chain processes.
• Ability to track and analyze financial results of sourcing strategies.
• Ability to manage complex transactions involving suppliers, customers and all levels of management.
• Global manufacturing and supply base knowledge
• Able to analyze and interpret market data
• Ability to select, lead, evaluate, and develop employees.
• Demonstrated success directing supplier selection activities
• Commodity cost driver knowledge
• Ability to manage a cross functional buying team.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communications for a global audience; ability to influence/persuade; ability to negotiate effective agreements with global suppliers.
• Good interpersonal/customer relations skills; good presentation skills.
