Job Description

Plans, organizes, and controls the Idea Generation Phase of a Product Line or Commodity identified. The idea generation phase includes both the commercial and technical areas of the business. Facilitates and executes purchasing strategies across Global Industrial Aftermarket and Electrification, business units. Works closely with the Global Industrial Aftermarket and Electrification, purchasing team, business unit and suppliers.

Job Responsibilities 

•Provides mentoring and role-modeling for the team; identifies and evaluates talent to build and maintain the value-added performance of a dedicated, professional department.
•Guides and executes idea generation sessions to generate cost reduction initiatives to achieve the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) of procurement organization.
•Coordinates and collaborates with Buyers on the spend analysis data to identify commercial and/or technical opportunities.
•Manages a large portfolio of cost reduction initiatives identified from initiation level to Program manage handoff.
•Identifies in conjunction with the Business Unit, products and suppliers for teardowns, deproliferation and Idea Generation Sessions.
•Develop robust supplier, commodity and sub commodity strategies to optimize cost, supply chain and supplier risk management
•Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to identify cost reduction and market opportunities.
•Identify & facilitate clean sheet activities needed from procurement.
•Coordinates and lead Linear Price Performance analysis with a cross functional team
•Lead the valuation and classification of the initiatives being loaded into the tracking system.
•Responsible for reporting Pipeline of initiatives to meet AOP to senior management and related functions.
•Guides the “80/20” purchasing analysis of Business Unit components.
•Aggressively pursue execution excellence utilizing standardized project management tools and compliance to Meritor processes including PCCR, C2C,foresight, TMC, etc.
•Creates and manages a pipeline of savings programs and drives the team for on time movement of ideas from draft through handoff for program manager execution.
•Guides cross-functional teams and interfaces with all internal departments working on ideas to keep up to date on progress and ensure timely handoff to program manager for execution.
•Facilitate cross-regional, (cross-business unit) communications.
•Travel: 15% (To suppliers, Customers, Meritor plants)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in business or engineering related field

•3 – 5 years directly related experience with at least 3 years of experience in cost reduction/idea generation/value engineering activities.

•Experience in Commercial vehicle automotive is an added advantage.

•Project Management Certification is an added advantage.

•Global manufacturing and supply base knowledge

•Experience of working in a global cross functional environment is an added advantage.

•Ability to interpret & analyze market data..

•Exposure to purchasing finance experience is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications:

•Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments while meeting deadlines and

demanding quality execution.

•Good problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills.

•Clear and concise verbal and written communications for a global audience; ability to influence/persuade a diverse group of people in innovative ideas/concepts; ability to negotiate with global suppliers.

•Good interpersonal/customer relations skills; good presentation skills.

•Thorough knowledge of sources of supply, procurement laws, regulations and forecasting methodologies required.

•Ability to track and analyze financial results of sourcing strategies.

•Working familiarity of DMO tools; Clean sheets, DFM, LPP analysis, Deproliferation, Roadmaps, Teardown and IGS, etc.
