About the Role:
The Gauging Quality Technician will deliver support to the second shift production team in Plant 15, facilitate quality activities in manufacturing and utilize standard evaluation methods to ensure product quality and integrity. This role is a 2nd Shift role that works 1:30pm – 10:00pm, Monday through Friday with the potential for overtime to aid in special projects, Gage R&R’s, calibrations, or additional coverage/support when needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Deliver quality support to production with an emphasis on gauging and DC tools.
• Troubleshoot complex production problems related to process variation.
• Access Print Specifications on computer, interpret GD&T, understand tolerances, key product features, and associated measurement techniques.
• Have a solid understanding of gauging, DC tools, and calibration procedures.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing gauging, DC tools, and aid in calibration.
• Understanding of Gage R&R’s execution and interpretation of results.
• Aid in organizing and managing inventory.
• Aid the tagging, sorting and inspecting of suspect product when needed.
• Communicate Quality Spill Containment findings.
• Creation of standardized work, quality alerts and applicable training.
• Perform internal ISO Process Audits as directed.
• Actively engage in the SIR process (Sample Inspection Report).
• Understand and interpret statistical reports; e.g., histograms, control charts, etc.
• Conduct mathematical calculations of moderate complexity.
• Participate in Company led LSS Training and complete LSS projects.
• Participate in formal problem-solving teams & completion of Corrective Action requests.
• Perform Special assignments as required.
• Interface with Assembly, Machining, or sister plants.
• Support Plant Safety initiatives.
Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
• Commitment to health and safety (both in the office and in the plant).
• Proficient knowledge of PC software including the latest Windows software.
• Experience with data mining and ability to collect and transfer the information into presentable formats (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
• Knowledge of pertinent manufacturing processes; machining, assembly, and metrology.
• Familiarity with GD&T and the ability to read & understand engineering drawings, tolerances and symbols.
• Possess good written and oral communication; effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
• Able to prioritize diverse assignments and complete in a timely fashion.
• Be able to perform with a sense of urgency and have sound problem-solving skills.
• Ability to diplomatically lead and instruct others in job related functions.
• Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions.
• Must be dependable, self-motivated and work well in a team setting.
• Must be detail oriented, flexible/adaptable, maintain a strong work ethic and be open-minded.
• Be willing to seek and maintain certification: ASQ Quality Technician
• Must be able to lift 35# repetitively with a single lift of 50#.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Two or more years of experience in Maintenance, Quality Assurance and/or Metrology.
• In lieu of two or more years’ experience in complex machining operations, Quality Assurance and/or dimensional inspection techniques, a degree in a related field.
Desired Experience:
• Associates degree in related field.
• Prior experience in a gauge calibration.
• Working knowledge of Altas Copco and Cleco DC tooling.
• Have a broad knowledge of Quality Systems/Procedures
• Working knowledge of LSS, ISO and Safety Methodologies
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician
• Completed GD&T Coursework or Training
