Job Purpose and Impact

The Merchant I will participate in handling ingredient inventory pipelines for multiple feed mills and coordinate transportation via truck and rail. We seek a professional who will help procure commodities from and to elevators, producers, feed mills and processors.

Key Accountabilities

• Collaborate with transportation and merchandisers, quality assurance, customer managers and credit manager to ensure efficient execution and resolve routine problems.
• Help plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities.
• Enter most routine data and run specialty reports from our contract management databases and systems.
• Research and analyze ways to increase efficiency in our logistics network.
• Optimize inventory levels within our production facilities.
• Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
• Apply knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals.
• Hold self and others accountable to meet commitments.
• Know the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, focusing on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Agriculture or production background
• Experience with SAP
• Experience performing more complex merchandising work.
