We’re looking for a Branded Apparel Merchandiser to join our team here at Matalan Head Office. As our Branded Apparel Merchandiser, you’ll support the development of the new omni channel Branded Apparel offer, working in partnership with the Buying Team to manage the width and price architecture and promotional plans, maximising company profit. These roles will support the Head of Merchandising to deliver the Brand strategies, liaising with key strategic partners to achieve this.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Establishing and maintaining good relationships with existing & potential new branded suppliers, attending and contributing to supplier meetings on building optimum ranges.
• Managing the sales forecast at supplier/product level and contributing in WISSI meetings.
• Propose Promotional events and liaise with suppliers to get financial contribution.
• Manage the order process and any communication supplier order confirmation mails, ensuring future availability is secured at product level online with sales forecast.
• Responsible for all purchase order general administration, to cover raising, amending, re-phasing, delays & cancellations and communicating changes to the team and e-commerce.
• Liaising with e-commerce weekly to communicate changes in availability and highlighting sales opportunities.
• Understanding and monitoring closely the returns by supplier/product level and proposing ways to reduce this where possible.
• Availability management focussed on customer demand.
• Liaising with suppliers to drive SLA’s, understanding the route to market and how to maximise sales.
• Raising, monitoring and amendment of any supplier rebates.
• Setting up suitable reporting in BI for use at all levels by all areas of the business.
• End to End Reviews to refine processes, implementing lessons learnt and stakeholder involvement.
• Managing the critical path on Range Review and Sign Off Process and ensuring timely information is available.
• Responsible for Product Trials including store selection, sales monitoring and forecasting.
• Oversee New Supplier Trials and Supplier onboarding, offering system knowledge and support to junior members of the Merchandising team
• Demonstrating an extensive knowledge of the Matalan customer and the value market.
• Developing excellent working relationships with all key stakeholders across Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing, Marketing and e-commerce.

About You

• Previous proven experience as a high achieving Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser in a similar retail environment
• Excellent commercial awareness
• High standard of numerical and analytical ability
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including executive board level
• Strong leadership and coaching skills
• High level of personal effectiveness
