Role Summary
Responsible for implementing media relations and supporting community relations and employee engagement activities to promote the company as the best place to work and do business in the communities we serve.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Participates in activities that promote company visibility, build a strong company image and increase public awareness and consumer propensity to do business with Cox
Writes and edits communications plans for traditional print, digital and social media to promote and support Cox's community relations and educational activities
Monitors statements about Cox in the public, media and social media sites and recommends appropriate responses
Develops traditional and social media campaigns
Participates in crisis management messaging development
Writes news releases and coordinates press events
Provides supervisors and managers with appropriate messages and tools, consults on effective communication and techniques
Coordinates speakers bureau, organizes and trains company representatives in public speaking techniques
Creates programs that improve employees’ competitive understanding
Creates tools using a variety of print, electronic and digital media, publications, meetings and events, videos and announcements to ensure optimal message delivery to employees
Maintains May support public affairs sponsorships and cultivates key relationships in the community to support revenue growth
Administers May support the Cox Charities philanthropic program, engaging both employees and community partners through special events and communications
Coordinates May support employee involvement on non-profit community Boards of Directors
Coordinates May support employee volunteer activities
May support internal employee groups such as WICT and employee resource groups (ERGs)

Qualifications:
Minimum
2 or more years of experience required in related field (i.e. Marketing, Sales, Business, Communications, etc.)
Demonstrated history of civic or community involvement
Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.), and Photoshop and/or Adobe Illustrator
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
Ability to work independently and productively in a highly matrixed environment.
Ability to work in an unstructured environment and remotely from leadership and co-workers
Preferred
BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly desired (i.e. Marketing, Business, Communications, etc.).
Experience in telecommunications industry desired
Experience in media relations desired
