The Mechanical Specifications Engineer is a key member of the Meritor’s York, SC engineering team. In this role, you will support and maintain Bill of Materials and other activities subject to ensure BOM integrity. You will act as the specifications lead, as well as an individual contributor on these engagements, contributing to the insurance of accurate BOMs, schedules, routings, and drawings for Meritor’s MES systems and processes.
Job Responsibilities:
•Maintain consistency of product component number master list (modules, part numbers, references & drawings) to ensure product build accuracy.
•Provides information to assist Database Administrator (DBA) with updating and maintaining databases while providing database consistency.
•Review and maintain routings.
•Review and correct new and modified components, parts and specs prior to build.
•Responds to engineering change notices and assists with change notice resolution ahead of MES system and product build.
•Performs pipeline reviews days ahead of production and responds to deficiencies prior to MES system and product builds. Investigates and updates Bill of Materials to provide clean data to production systems.
•Clear communication with internal and external customers to respond to unknown BOM information.
•Liaison between customer, engineering, Database Administrator & production equipment.
•Conducts Shop-tech system research and liaison between Meritor & customer to verify data & other info.
•Upkeep of current AQAR system.
•Review customer Quality Rejects prior to corrective action response. Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to assist with a resolution.
•Ability to interpret product drawings and coordinate with Database Administrator (DBA) and engineering for digital inclusion/modification.
•Monitor bill-to-deliver schedule reports. Responds to system deficiencies and assist with resolution.
•Partner with customers and suppliers to obtain and maintain the latest specification revisions, keeping all revisions current.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors Level Degree
• 5+ years of experience in a high paced manufacturing environment.
• Interaction experience with multiple functions such as manufacturing & quality engineering, operations, project management, and IS is required.
• Expert knowledge of diagnosing and understanding complex product drawings and blueprints is required.
• Understanding and experience with manufacturing build processes and systems interface is required.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with “go-getter†attitude is preferred.
• Understanding of process jigs and fixtures in correlation with product specifications
• Successful and demonstrated customer relationship building and maintaining experience is preferred.
• Must possess strong ability of troubleshooting using investigative tactics.
• High mechanical aptitude is a requirement
