Job Description

The Humboldt, Tennessee Plant has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Specialist  with the starting rate of $25.41 per hour.

Principal duties and responsibilities (List each job duty or responsibility, which is critical to the successful performance of the job.)

  • Promptly at the start of the shift review the work schedule, check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled.
  • Set-up and teardown production equipment, perform changeovers and overhauls as required. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair production tools and production equipment, conveyors, lifts, palletizers, motors, etc. as needed.
  • Perform basic welding and machining tasks, as well as, read blueprints, drawing and plans, maintain SAP as required.
  • Build, sharpen, repair or modify parts to work order specifications, using lathes, surface grinders, mills, honing equipment, etc. and in accordance to work order specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment as required and special projects as assigned.
  • Assist all Trades with repairs, replacements, adjustments, modifications to equipment, machinery, wiring, piping etc. as directed.
  • At end of shift, secure all equipment, perform general housekeeping duties and complete and maintain work records.
  • Respond to help calls from Production Department
  • First Responder/CPR
  • Shop Skills/Fabrication
  • Seamers (start-up shut down, PMs)
  • Chiller (start-up, shut down, ammonia checks)
  • Boilers (start-up, shut down, checks, blowdowns, all required testing and sampling)
  • Waste water (sampling, usage records, PMS, PH calibration, required cleaning, sludge tank maintenance)
  • Dock plates (PMs)
  • First Responder/CPR
  • Provide production line support when necessary

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Skills:

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and the safety regulations.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform the job.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
  • Must meet the company performance standards for the job.
  • Must participate in company orientation and training.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position.
  • Must know SDS information regarding all materials used within the scope of the work.
  • Must complete the company forklift training and obtain a certificate.
  • Must maintain Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Must complete “Lock-out / Tag-out” training. 
  • Must complete maintenance skills test(s) as required
  • Leadership Skills
  • Perform basic mathematical equations
  • Push/pull/lift 50 pounds as part of daily activity
  • Comply with PPE requirements
  • Able to work in hot, wet, humid environments or office setting
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Communication skills specific to working with vendors, contractors, and all levels of Conagra employees

Physical:

  • Standing, climbing, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching, walking, working in hot conditions, wet conditions.

Education:

  • Must have earned a High School diploma or proof of GED.
  • Industrial maintenance experience  or education in a mechanical field required, including, but not limited to:
    • Electrical
    • Mechanical
    • Refrigeration (ammonia)
  • Certification from an accredited institution in industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • A combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Will be expected to validate to Advanced Level Mechanical Specialist


* PLC and Waste Water training preferred
