Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Materials Management Specialist at the Texas City, TX facility.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for the warehouse spare materials, shipping/receiving of goods and accountable for inventory preservation supporting the Texas City, TX maintenance organization, systems, and processes.  This role embraces the planning, scheduling, monitoring of those materials from the consumption, re-ordering, tracking, refurbishment and re-stocking.
You will constantly interface with all site personnel, equipment suppliers, engineering, and functional support services. Core Responsibilities
- Provide support to operations and maintenance on a day-to-day basis optimizing equipment in service time, minimizing downtime.
- Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the on-site materials warehouse locations and maintaining acceptable storage conditions for plant equipment spares and segregation of Air Products and Customer spares.
- Work in conjunction with the Maintenance Planner and Technical Assistant to support planned and unplanned work. In a team environment works towards solving parts problems through alternate sourcing, material selection and equipment design.
- Support outages and other maintenance activities by filling SAP work order material reservations or purchased component and stage materials by specific jobs to streamline the process with technical crafts.
- Ensure that material received matches Purchase Order. Ensure that the Certificate of Analysis for calibration gases, oils, etc. are received with the order and that it meets the required specification.
- Supports the shipping out of hazardous materials, such as gas and catalyst samples, as required.
- Assist managing the overall cycle of parts and equipment sent out for refurbishment, overhauled and returned to plant / inventory.
- Communicates with the Global Materials Management team to enforce company standards, common practices and assists on inventory audits. Maintains warehouse inventory system in SAP to ensure inventory accuracy and consistency. Assist in recommendations when SAP stock level adjustments are needed.
- Compiles and issues report from SAP for documenting and communicating current materials inventory accuracy and cycle counting progress. Leads the cycle counting (inventory verification) of parts to compare against SAP system inventory and assists in investigating when discrepancies are found.
- Replenish spare parts consumed at the plant by utilizing SAP inventory management and assist requisitioning functionality.
- Assist the Capital Spare Repair Process including expediting repairs with vendors.
- Routine audit of all off-site (3rd party) spare parts storage locations.
- Oversees vendor managed stocking programs.
- Receive and offload material deliveries to site; tag and stock material as required. Receive, Issue, and Return goods using appropriate SAP transactions.
- Works with procurement to resolve any discrepancies or SAP errors.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends and be on call as required.
- Communication of key information regarding material cost, lead-time/delivery-schedule and availability.
- Responsible for packaging parts/materials for shipment and work with shipping providers for transportation logistics. Able to safely operate warehouse and all terrain forklift as well as pallet-jacks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years related work experience in a Materials Management / Supply Chain environment required.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and be capable of interacting with a diverse team of people with various backgrounds and interests.
- Experience in safe operation of forklift and other materials handling equipment
- SAP or similar CMMS experience, with Materials.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Capable of making decisions, prioritize workload, and multi-task. Drives responsibilities through to their completion.
Travel Requirements
- Expected travel of 20%-25% during the first year for training and to support Air Products Global Materials Management Organization
- Once the plant has been stabilized and processes are in place is a plant support role with minimal travel
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to climb ladders and steps
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Elevated work required.
