The Fabric Enhancers (FE) business is the growth engine for the Fabric Care BU with over $3B in NOS across Bounce, Downy & Gain brands. Within FE, Sheets are a key NOS & Profit contributor to NA Fabric Care. Sheets is a $500MM business with one of highest profit margins in Fabric Care growing > 110ix NOS & volume behind $20MM iNOS superior Mega Sheet innovation. Sheets, as Fabric Enhancers' consumer point of market entry, offers significant opportunity to unlock relevancy for the nonuser (almost 50% HHs) & drive essentiality & trade-up to premium Sheets chassis on the path to Bounce being Fabric Care's next Billion Dollar Brand. As Material Design Leader, the individual in this role will lead material and supplier development and qualification for Dryer sheets to support future business growth. This includes leading material design efforts for our nonwoven (substrate) supply, including defining and executing material DOXs, leading understanding of material transformations at the vendor/supplier and our manufacturing facility, development of control strategies, leading formula demo runs, and designing, developing and qualifying the material specification. Unique to this assignment, this individual will partner with Material Science TPT to develop & qualify a new, state-of-the-art non-woven Platform technology which will enable competitive mid & long-term supply. Beyond innovating for growth, important responsibilities also include studying & designing Dryer sheets made with alternative materials ranging from recycled inlet streams to hydro entangled lyocell, etc. in order to achieve Sustainability goals & growing Regulatory needs across NA & Europe. We are interested in an individual who can marry chemistry, material science, and new process transformations (i.e. solid state) to enable higher performance actives loadings on existing and alternative materials solutions. We are confident that our Material Design Leader will have the opportunity to innovate in partnership with Platform PD, Process, Materials Science TPT, Analytical, etc. to make sustainable, lasting impression on Sheets business.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a Bachelors or Master degree in the field of Engineering, Material Science or related field
Technical Mastery/Critical Thinking - Prefer individual has strong experience/ background in material science or specifically in substrates, converting and substrate process design, delivery, and web-handling. Prefer the individual has multiple experiences leading materials supplier qualification from concept to full scale manufacturing to producing shippable product. Prefer experience leading resolution of material-based problems partnering with suppliers.
Be Transparent, Inclusive and Collaborative – The individual will have demonstrated the ability to successfully work cross-functionally with material suppliers, Product Design, Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing resources to deliver initiatives to market. Additionally, this individual will need to be able to successfully lead resolution of manufacturing technical challenges to enable continual shipment of products to the market.
