The Manufacturing Manager, Fabrication is responsible for directing Meritor’s Axle Fab Forming, Fabrication and Machining process in a highly automated heavy manufacturing facility. The Manufacturing Manager, Fabrication will be responsible for all aspects of Production including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Employee Morale. The Manufacturing Manager, Fabrication will be responsible to drive Safety, Quality and Labor and Burden improvements through the extensive use of the Meritor Production System and Industry 4.0 Smart Factory initiatives while improving OEE, productivity and PPM metrics to meet overall customer demand. The Manufacturing Manager, Fabrication is also responsible in managing the Fabrication monthly budget to help achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual financial budget tied to sites output effectiveness.

• Direct the production of Axle Fabrications in a heavy welding and machining environment.
• Maintain all necessary production records and prepare required reports to monitor productivity, OEE, and overall cost effectiveness.
• Ensure that all aspects of quality, manufacturing engineering and technical specifications are met and are following the overall requirements of IATF 16949 quality procedures
• Develop and control the operating budget for Axle Fabrication. Forecast production plans (personnel, equipment, spend, and time requirements) based on monthly S&OP production demand
• Utilize Meritor Production System (MPS) to manage the Daily Performance Management System, standardize current/new processes and methods, reduce process variation, identify waste, and methodically eliminate waste.
• Ensure the appropriate liaison between manufacturing and TPM is maintained, leading the Daily Operator (Autonomous) Maintenance activities or programs as necessary for implementation of the site TPM goals.
• Responsible for the hiring of fabrication personnel. Evaluate new employees and oversee the training of new employees and contract employees. Assist in training and development of welding and machining personnel. Ensure training in safety procedures and ensures safe work practices are adhered to.
• Complete annual performance reviews and monitors performance of personnel.
• Stay up to date with “state of the art†equipment, Industry 4.0 Smart Factory systems and infrastructure, manufacturing execution systems, and ERP systems
• Participate in understanding and adhering to OSHA and EPA regulations. Make sure that equipment and processes meet all requirements. Work with EHS, Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering to initiate safety review on all new processes and/or equipment.
• Facilitate root cause problem solving of process losses and equipment related issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Ensures thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to Standards of Business Conduct and trains and motivates subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.
• Supports the Plant Vision, Strategic Strategies and annual labor and burden transformation process
• Meet AOP budget goals, including Burden and Consumable expenditures; major repair expenditures; production labor; improving productivity and overall costs

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certifications:
• B.S. degree in Engineering, Management, or Business with ten years related experience in machining/metal fabrication preferred
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma certifications desired
Required Qualifications:
• Must have extensive knowledge of Operations and have managed in a fast paced environment, highly automated and mechanized environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, directing, listening, counseling, evaluating, and training subordinates
• Must be able to motivate and lead all employees under supervision
• Demonstrated managerial experience working in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Management experience in a 24/7, IATF 16949 environment
• Experience with ERP/MES systems (preferably Oracle and Apriso)
• Experience with Lean tools such as JIT concepts, Built in Quality, TPM, Autonomous Maintenance, and Problem Solving (PDCA)
• Experience with Industry 4.0 and IIoT concepts using real time production and OEE tracking, machine condition monitoring, End to End (E2E) Digital Thread, and overall E2E automation
