Advanced Systems Group (ASG) is a newly formed stand-alone division of Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business.  We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Menomonee Falls, WI.

The main responsibility for this Manufacturing Engineer will be to create and maintain documentation that enables the efficient and accurate manufacture of mobile (12V) electro-mechanical control systems.  Documentation will include work instructions and end user documentation. This role will also require the the ability to create and modify CAD drawings of mechanical components and assemblies, and schematic drawings of circuits and components is desirable. This position reports to the Director of Design and Manufacturing Engineering.

The successful candidate will require excellent writing skills, ability to complete and document light assembly work, organized thinking and record keeping, and basic electrical knowledge.  Industrial, Mechanical and Electrical engineers are encouraged to apply.  

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Document and refine architecture for electro-mechanical systems:
  • Define assemblies of control components to fit in defined spaces
  • Propose and implement design changes to improve manufacturability
  • Develop Kanban, kitting, and workflow for maximum efficiency
  • Define interconnect strategies to enable the simplest installation by our customers
  • Propose, specify, or design tooling and fixturing to facilitate manufacturing
  • Develop testing strategies, fixtures, and tools to ensure product quality
  • Ability to learn relevant regulations and codes for the markets we serve
  • Create and maintain a file structure and documents that enable easy identification of the correct document
  • Create bills of material for designs
  • Communicate design intent to manufacturing teams internal and external

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (BSIE, BSME, BSEE, Physics, Computer Science) or equivalent.
  • Excellent MSOffice skills.
  • Able to work independently and within groups.
  • Able to synthesize a solution when design inputs are vague or incomplete.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Flexible to ever changing priorities and environments.
  • Comfortable in multi-tasking situations.
  • Selfless, can do attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Skill with common 3D CAD software packages (Creo, Solidworks, Nx…)
  • Experience with marine and/or RV products
  • Familiarity with ABYC, NMMA, requirements
  • Experience with new product introduction cycles
  • Shop/Bench fabrication and/or assembly skills
