The Cox Automotive editorial team publishes hundreds of new or updated vehicle comparisons, advice and news annually across the Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader websites. The Manager, Managing Editor (Compare/Advice/News) manages a small team of direct-report editors and works closely with a team of established contributing writers to create and publish this content. The ideal candidate has a deep background and current knowledge of mainstream vehicles and segments, has experience managing high-volume workflow, and possesses the drive and skill to continually improve our reviews product and process. The Manager, Managing Editor (Compare/Advice/News) reports to Director, Editorial.
Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the timely and efficient creation and publication of vehicle comparisons, advice and news annually across the Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader websites
Manage a team of two editors
Maintain and coach a team of experienced and reliable freelance automotive writers and editors
Ensure consistency and accuracy in vehicle comparison content
Establish and evolve efficient production workflows and processes
Develop documentation and guidelines to ensure scalable content quality and consistency
Identify opportunities for continuous product and process improvements
Collaborate closely with our SEO team to drive increases in organic search traffic
Work closely with other departments to meet internal content needs
Qualifications:
At least 10 years of experience in vehicle evaluation and content creation
Thorough knowledge and understanding of mainstream vehicles and segments
Excellent writing and editing skills
Experience managing and coaching freelance content creators
Proficient in WordPress
Well-versed in current SEO best-practices
Experienced in establishing, enforcing and evolving editorial workflows and processes
Detail- and process-oriented
Familiarity with all aspects of editorial production, including ideation, creation, editing, publishing and measurement
Preferred Education
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism or similar field
