Job Summary:

In this dynamic role, the Manager, Regulated Waste & Field Operations oversees the regulated solid waste program, including planning, auditing and change programs to support the operation and expansion of the Resort, while leading a team of environmental professionals and front-line cast members. You will have an advanced understanding of the Federal, State, and local solid waste regulatory frameworks and expertise in working with internal partners and regulating agencies.

You will report to Director, Environmental Affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead ongoing development of the Disneyland Resort regulated waste compliance program, including:
    • Manage small and large quantity generating sites
    • Contingency planning
    • DOT compliance as it relates to off-site shipments
    • Related regulatory reporting
  • Lead a field services team providing support, including:
    • Solid waste logistics
    • On-site consolidation and packaging of regulated wastes
    • Off-site shipments of regulated waste
    • Release response
  • Support our environmental sustainability goals
  • Engage with, and be a resource to, Resort partners such as Food and Beverage, Entertainment, Custodial, Horticulture and others to ensure work practices maintain compliance with applicable environmental rules and regulations
  • Support internal construction teams with waste characterization efforts in advance of demolition and rehabilitation projects
  • Manage internal audit and self-inspection programs
  • Deliver training
  • Manage non-regulated and regulated waste contracts
  • Maintain high levels of proficiency and be a trusted subject-matter expert

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of work experience managing hazardous and other regulated waste compliance programs in California
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team
  • Experience with environmental sampling and analysis procedures
  • Experience with the chemistry of hazardous materials
  • Experience working with regional, state, and federal agencies
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with partners of all levels

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Cal Recycle mandatory diversion programs
  • Understanding of Cal Green mandatory measures for non-residential solid waste management
  • Understanding of the California Medical Waste Management Act
  • Understanding of DOT/PHMSA requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials
  • Experience with Disney Theme Parks and Resorts
  • Experience in a union work environment

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field

Preferred Education

Master's degree in Chemical, Civil or Environmental engineering or related field
