Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
· Manage a team of team managers and data associates including personnel growth, resource planning, staffing, quality control, and reporting.
· Create an organizational culture where accountability, transparency and collaboration are the norm and rapid deep dives into root causes of defects is a standard operating practice.
· Drive continuous focus on process excellence and automation. Provide inputs for technology roadmap for tool-development projects to improve process efficiency, quality, permissioning, and end-customer impact.
· Oversee the hiring & training of new team members and support their development.
· Ensure productivity is maximized through supervision, training, analysis, and feedback of performance data on a periodic basis.
· Partner closely with Product Managers and engineers to adapt team processes to changing requirements, tooling developments, and expansion to new data areas.
· Collect, track, & present metrics related to processes, team accuracy and efficiency, and drive improvements in efficiency, throughput and cost across the organization.
· Continuously evaluate tools and processes and offer solutions to ensure they are efficient, high quality, and scalable.
A day in the life
We are seeking a Manager of Program Management in Cambridge to develop, manage, and support a large team of direct and indirect reports to support and scale our speech and language technology to all Alexa languages supported. You will manage other leaders to ensure that data associates are adequately trained and supported. You will ensure that accuracy and standards are maintained, and that risks and mitigation strategies are communicated across a globally distributed organization.
This role will include managing individual and team performance expectations and goals; provide individual coaching feedback sessions; maintaining and improving quality and throughput of data; and monitoring productivity to meet weekly deliverables.

The Alexa Knowledge team’s North Star is to answer all knowledge-related questions for customers. "Who won the football match?", "How long til Diwali?", "How old is Dresden Cathedral?" - we're constantly making Alexa smarter by helping her answer more questions like those every day. Every new question we support needs to go live fast, for all our customers around the world. The Knowledge International's north star is: Alexa is a local, not a tourist. She provides knowledge that is relevant, engaging, and trustworthy on the preferred end-point and in the language of choice. Customers easily turn to Alexa first to stay informed and entertained on international and local knowledge. Customers communicate with Alexa trusting that these interactions are private, personal, and culturally aware.
The problems we solve in Cambridge help Alexa get smarter by understanding the different ways people talk, by learning more facts about the world, and by responding in the most natural way possible in multiple languages.
· Previous experience as a Manager of Program or Product Management, directly managing and developing front-line managers.
· Proven track record of raising the bar on performance by insisting on the highest standards and delivering results by leading large teams in an operations environment.
· History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
· Proven BI, analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions.
· Clear, concise spoken and written communication, appropriately tailored to the audience.
· Experience with process improvement/quality control tools and methods.
· Experience speech and language technology (Natural Language Processing, Natural Language Generation, Machine Translation)
· Fluency in a foreign language is a plus
· Experience with Operations teams
