Job Summary:
The Manager, Licensing will manage the adult apparel categories and licensees with the goal of exceeding predetermined revenue targets and growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
Finance and Business Planning:
- Develop and implement the strategy for Softlines categories including Disney adult apparel
- Have fiscal responsibility for assigned categories to include annual budget planning and quarterly revenue forecasting.
- Develop strategies and business plans by retailer, brand and property for multiple franchises.
- Manage new business and revenue growth opportunities with existing licensees.
Brand and Content Management: (With the Franchise team)
- Provide licensee/product information to support marketing and brand presentations and sales meetings.
- Work with franchise team to support Social Media activations and platforms.
- Collaborate with Disney channel and studio partners to support licensee needs
- Explore potential co-brands and partnerships that help enhance the brand and portfolio.
- Consumerist: Consumer-focused, always balancing the art and the science of merchandising to find opportunities, improve brand and delight our consumer
Category Management:
- Be an ambassador for the category. Research & understand competitive landscape. Analyze market trends, consumer trends, retailer and industry needs.
- Strategize and develop new business opportunities. Analyze account (licensee and retailer) business performance and develop growth objectives that are aligned with Disney Consumer Products initiatives.
- Develop product strategies, merchandising and marketing plans to ensure that sales are maximized and marketing objectives are met.
- Partner with sales in assortment / retail planning / sales pitches where relevant.
- Ensure licensee requests are researched and responded to.
- Manage licensee portfolio / co-manage where relevant with LOB partner (contract negotiation, data management, approvals, submissions, promotion / advertising) and relationship with licensees.
- Support Sr Manager in everyday responsibilities such as contract and amendment process, financial analysis, preparing presentations and other projects.
- Support apparel team in everyday responsibilities such as sample organization, social media requests, buy boards, placement grids and other projects
Product Development:
- Partner with Product Development team to innovate & bring to market compelling, trend relevant product for categories managed
- Collaborate with Product Development team to ensure approval of products which may include: lead meetings; coordinate programs across multiple categories/consumer segments; review line lists; maintain milestone calendars
- Partner with the design partners in packaging development process to ensure approvals and to ensure product features are communicated.
- Prepare product presentations included but not limited to internal line reviews
- Champion our diversity, equity and inclusion goals through product & collaborations
- Assist licensees with securing of assets to support product development
- Research & understand competitive landscape. Monitor the global competitive landscape to capture opportunity
- Ensure licensee product lines reflect Disney quality and brand/property objectives.
Retail, Sales and Marketing:
- Partner with sales in assortment / retail planning / sales pitches/ retailer exclusive products where relevant
- Develop relationships with key retailers to maximize commercial and brand opportunities.
- Maintain general knowledge of the retail landscape and monitor retail sales performance of key licensees and programs. Perform retail-shopping analysis.
- Provide any licensee /product information to support marketing and brand presentations and sales meetings.
- Build strong team-oriented relationships with other key business units and global stakeholders for new business and cross-promotional opportunities
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of directly related experience
- Understanding of brand and property positioning, manufacturing process, retail business development function, retail distribution and the retail environment
- Fashion experience is important. Strong product development experience and keen sense of fashion/trend
- Team player with project management skills
- Show up as compelling, dynamic, knowledgeable to cross functional teams
