Cox Communications is searching for a Manager, Construction Program Management to lead and drive resolution to complex risks and issues that occur within the Network Transformation portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Construction Program Management, the leader will be accountable for aggregating enterprise risks and issues, consultation with enterprise SME’s on remediation options, packaging of complete and final resolution and communication to enterprise leaders on the plan that supports the “path to greenâ€. In addition, this leader will develop team roadmaps to incorporate into project planning for current year and lifecycles across multiple years. Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of projects requiring technical expertise related to networks, engineering, and commercial telecom service deployments using standard project management methodologies.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Provides project oversight for multiple categories of projects (small, medium, large) of varying technical complexity which includes small scale projects lasting up to 10 days to large scale projects lasting 1-3 years.
• Uses standard project management methodology by gathering requirements, creating project scopes, timelines, risk assessments, and project reporting.
• Manages cross departmental technology and internal network projects using department standards and methodology.
• Turns requirements into project timelines creating project plans with assigned resources, defined predecessors and dependencies, and specific tasks.
• Partners with various teams to ensure projects are kept within determined budget guidelines.
• Partners with other department leaders to secure and allocate appropriate resources.
• Performs analysis and investigation in areas of concern and applies appropriate problem-solving techniques and tools to determine root cause and resolve issues.
• Conducts risk assessments, maintains log of risks, and partners the Construction Program Management team to create contingency plans on high potential risks and monitors project for triggers on those risks.
• Tracks and maintains project issues and facilitates resolution of those issues limiting impact to the overall success of the project, escalates issues when required, and acts as a catalyst for resolving issues that include but are not limited to project delays and interpersonal project team conflicts.
• Provides weekly dashboard and detailed project status reporting giving general health and status of the project including upcoming events, milestone timelines, current issues, major decisions, and accomplishments.
• Facilitates formal project reviews providing updates on project timelines, risks, issues, accomplishments, upcoming events, scope changes, communications, etc.
• Ensures SLA’s and customer standards are being met.
• Ensures continual development of team through technical and project management training and assists with creating annual Individual Development Plans and achieving career path goals.
• Maintains project library ensuring all versions of documentation are updated each week and posted to allow accessibility by all project stakeholders.
• Performs “After Action Reviews†when required and facilitates permanent resolution of issues.
• Travel will be required.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
• Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline
• 7 or more years of experience in related field (i.e. change management, project management, etc.)
• 5 or more years of experience if candidate possesses a related advanced degree.
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies
Preferred:
• BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly
• 2 or more years of experience in a management role preferred or leading large cross-functional projects
• Experience in telecommunications industry desired
• Project Management Professional certification
