Climate Change and Sustainability Service (CCaSS) is a practice within EY dedicated to building a better working world by helping businesses respond to societal, environmental, and economic challenges resulting from shifting market demands and the changing economic and regulatory environment. We help our clients build long-term value by managing risk and opportunity and measuring, communicating, and assuring nonfinancial performance. We have relationship with over 700+ clients and several state and country governments.
Working with our clients on Safety and Operational Risk Transformation : We advise and assist clients on managing safety and operational risks and opportunities across their business value chain. Some of our areas of work include defining and achieving the outcomes through safety culture and operational risk assessment, benchmarking, strategy development and prioritization, on ground hand on implementation support on four key levers (a) Governance and performance management (b) Risk based Technical standards, procedures, and work instructions (c) Capability and competency development at all levels of the organization (d) Safety culture by leveraging Mindsets and Behaviors
CCaSS has its presence in the following locations: Delhi (Gurgaon & Noida), Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Location of the shortlisted candidate would be decided later and communicated before joining. Your key responsibilities
As one of our Safety and Operational Risk Transformation professionals, you'll work with Clients on various advisory or assurance engagements, as an Engagement Manager/ Team Leader. Specific role includes:
- Lead specific work streams within a wider safety transformation program, aiming at identifying, designing, and implementing effective solutions within the area of Safety and Operational Risk Transformation expertise.
- Provide subject matter expertise and lead teams to help clients establish and implement robust Safety Excellence programs and build organizational capabilities to sustain performance. You will be reporting to the Senior Manager - WPS and working closely with the safety transformation team.
- Responsible for developing positive relationships with clients & internal peers.
- Responsible for executing engagements and delivery of quality work product
- Responsible for overall client service delivery in accordance with EY quality guidelines & methodologies.
- Assist in developing new methodologies, concept notes and white papers
- Contribute towards building a positive and collaborative work culture
Service Delivery :
The candidate will drive the execution of consulting engagements in Workplace Safety and transformation. Excellence to meet or exceed the client's requirements and deliver superior value to clients. This entails:
- Defining scope of work, objectives, deliverables, & timeframes with minimal guidance, structuring and sequencing the project / workstream activities and developing a detailed implementation plan to drive execution of a Safety assessment or implementation project. This covers the design, development and implementation of study plans and safety strategies to accelerate organizational safety transformation and results delivery using performance improvement methodologies and approaches.
- Providing subject matter expertise on Safety Excellence Programs with special focus on the following 4 dimensions of the Safety Excellence spectrum: (1) Governance & Performance Management, (2) Mindset and Behaviors, (3) Technical Elements and (4) Capability Building Techniques.
- Leading day-to-day execution for large project teams or high priority Safety Excellence projects effectively communicating progress and outcome to different client's stakeholders
- Structuring problems effectively to develop key insights and sound recommendations that identify & close performance gaps for the client.
- Building strong coaching relationships with key clients on Safety Excellence initiatives and leadership team to facilitate an effective working relationship between project teams & clients.
- Playing an active role in building the firm by Participating and contributing to functional and/or industry networks with the aim of developing and sharing best practices.
- Demonstrate subject matter & industry expertise (deep understanding of the industry, emerging trends, issues/challenges, key players & leading practices)
Other Requirements:
Candidates should be willing to:
- Travel, both within India and internationally
- Work for extended working hours and over the weekend (occasionally depending on the client engagement need)
Skills and attributes for success
Technical Expertise:
- A strong and broad understanding of workplace safety and the effective use of management system and people towards continuous improvement
- The ideal candidate must have strong expertise and proven experience in Safety Excellence Programs, coupled with excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills to drive the client's team and manage change in a complex organization.
- Cultural Transformation - organization cultural assessment, establishing and hand holding the organization to improve the culture. Building the cultural foundation by establishing integrated governance, leadership training & influence, frontline capability building and pull forward approach implementation.
- Occupational safety and Health, Safety - strong knowledge of codes and standards, establishing management systems, safety risk assessment, heat map and risk containments. The exposure must include development and implementation of FSI (fatalities and serious injury) prevention, barrier health management, life & fire safety, electrical safety, and other broader elements of workplace safety.
- Occupation Health (OH) workplace exposure assessments and prevention through exposure containments, controls design reviews and OH practices.
- Risk assessment and profiling across the value chain (R&D, production, supply chain, asset integrity and distribution) and implementation of risk controls linking to business performance through risk-based and supportive digital tools.
- New project or company due diligence and integration - lead the due diligence of new green field projects and newly acquired company due diligence & integration to the system.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of investigation and analysis tools (quantitative and qualitative) like FMEA, RCFA, 5Y's, Fishbone Diagrams, Problem solving and flexibility to analyze and adapt to situations.
- Experience in developing/upgrading procedures to define key system requirements as well as Audit Protocols, KPIs and Governance mechanisms to monitor effectiveness of implementation of safety excellence elements.
- Change management and project management methodologies and principles
- Strong relationship management skills with experience in partnering and building credibility with senior leaders
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in application / facilitation of a wide range of Continuous Improvement techniques. Experience with other governance processes/ methodologies e.g., committee and line management accountability
- Ability to effectively deliver training & coaching sessions to build/strengthen capabilities on WPS related elements/ topics.
- Experiences along the lifecycle of an asset, from design to operations/maintenance to be able to understand how to apply Safety Excellence methodologies and concepts at various stages.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Sciences, or other related fields. Master's degree preferred
- Working experience of 8-10 years in relevant role

- Be highly flexible, adaptable, and creative.
- Willing to travel, both within India and internationally
