Job Purpose
The purpose of a Maintenance Technician is to maintain conditions of operating equipment. Secondary tasks include the repair or replacement of failed components, the ability to troubleshoot unknown issues with equipment, and adjust centerline operational output of assigned equipment.
- Perform all mechanical and electrical P.M.s on various manufacturing and packaging equipment and electrical panels; then document WO’s/PM’s using computerized maintenance management system (SAP Plant Maintenance).
- Other duties include some fabrication, welding, and machinist skills, as trained and as required.
- Troubleshooting and repairing routine electrical and mechanical problems on assigned equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, and support Operations in equipment setup and changeover.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment including electrical components including motor starters, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters, amp probes, basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment; i.e. packaging, conveying, processing, or facilities equipment, etc.
- Participate in TPM Teams, train operators in AM activities, and conduct Breakdown Analysis.
Job Accountabilities
- Own PM systems for the Line, focusing on Maintenance Planning and Scheduling and Breakdown Elimination DMS’s.
- Drives results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime, and owns:
- Maintain & Repair costs for line
- % Planned Maintenance and PM compliance.
- Breakdown reduction
- Is the technical expert of related equipment and discuss, coach, and train technicians and operators on this equipment.
- Able to perform all the duties of a senior mechanical/electrical technician at the highest levels of technical proficiency.
- Owns Anomaly Handling DMS
- Makes business decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Understands overall business operations and coaches’ others to do the same.
- Participates in the development and owns portions of the Line's 90-Day loss-elimination plans.
- Represent maintenance team in the daily FMOS meetings. Provides performance data for selected machines and communicates action plans and completed work effectively.
Skills Required
Minimum:
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Technical Certificate or Equivalent Experience
- Work Keys Certification and successful completion of the Standard Timing Model Assessment.
Preferred:
- Associate or Technical degree
- Understand and adhere to LOTO, Confined Space, and all other plant safety/GMP requirements related to supporting machinery uptime.
- Understand TPM Theory and Concepts.
- Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
- Basic Computer skills required
- Requires basic machinist skills, metal smith work, plumbing and steam fitting.
- Capable of operating assigned equipment.
- Work in confined spaces as required and adhere to regulations and policies covering confined space. (Mechanics working in confined space are required to learn Basic First Aid and CPR.)
- Conduct “hot work†permit work as necessary to include grinding and/or welding as trained and as required.
- Be multi-crafted with skills including functional electrical power and controls, understanding of PLCs, mechanical, print reading, etc.
