About the role
As the Maintenance Superintendent you will be responsible for supporting the manager to oversee supervision of maintenance work activities to which he has been assigned according to agreed plans, while maintaining a health & safe working environment with the prime objective of ensuring that the mechanical and equipment's availability targets are achieved within the budgeted cost.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate and supervise the maintenance works (mobile and fixed mechanical equipment) for the successful completion of planned/un planed repairs and to provide effective responses to unscheduled repairs or breakdowns.
- Coordinate and develop the assigned subordinates in repairing/overhauling for maintenance of the equipment in order to optimise workable time and to minimise turn-around time of each maintenance event.
- Coordinate continuous improvement and optimisation of activities in order to ensure optimum efficiencies on an ongoing basis.
- To keep updated on the latest technical developments from OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in order to be able to advise on any technical problem that arise from the use of project equipment.
- Consolidate reports from subordinates to produce effective back-log plant asset management plan and implementation in order to ensure the accurate presentation of daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Mentor and lead National workforce
- Work with OEM's and contractors to provide the best outcome for the business
- Optimise maintenance decisions resulting in optimal outcomes for Thiess and Client
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum Degree or technical apprentice ship /industrial/mechanical/electrical engineering or related disciplines
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in maintenance supervisory positions in mining
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- In-depth knowledge of practical application of mechanical/electrical/heavy mobile equipment & safety legal requirements
- Ability to handle issues of confidential nature
- Strong writing, presentation and analytical skill
