BASIC FUNCTIONS: Repairs all equipment, maintains mechanical equipment, installs equipment, performs changeovers of equipment on product lines, performs building maintenance, welds, minor sheet metal work, operates a lathe, and minor electrical trouble shooting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Installs, repairs, modifies, and maintains food processing equipment, assists with designing, laying out new equipment and modifications of existing lines. Includes work on pneumatic, hydraulic and steam systems. Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation, such as temperature chart recorders, temperature transducers, and electronic scales. Troubleshoot and repair all associated mechanical systems. Prepare and maintain all specific documentation related to job activities. Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA. Effectively communicate with coworkers, leads, and outside contractors. Assist with production line changeovers. Be discreet in the use of company confidential information Perform other duties as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform in a variety of physical conditions including cramped spaces, and in varied temperatures, some with extreme temperatures and high humidity (>100 degrees F.); must be able to perform detailed work; stoop, bend, twist, squat, stand and sit for various periods at a time with or without reasonable accommodations. May work in enclosed areas and in noisy environment. Must perform moderate to heavy lifting.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have strong a strong mechanical and technical background and be willing to further education by attending courses and seminars as needed. Must be able to communicate effectively with outside contractors and vendors and cooperate with code inspectors. Must cooperate well with other coworkers and work as a team member as well as individually. Must adhere to all safety, food safety and quality rules and procedures. Must follow the company’s uniform and safety policies.
