Position Summary
The primary role of the Maintenance Mechanic A is to perform skilled maintenance and repair services of plant manufacturing systems involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, fluids or/and production line systems; ability to interpret blueprints and schematics; has knowledge of methods, practices and techniques of maintaining manufacturing and product processing systems. An individual contributor that performs the full range of established procedures and will typically be considered skilled through on-the-job experience; resolves routine issues without supervisory approval. NOTE: This facility is scheduled to close on or about December 31st, 2021

3rd Shift – 10:30 PM to 06:30 AM

Position Overview:

The primary role of the Maintenance Mechanic A is to provide maintenance support to production.  Troubleshoot process and packaging equipment.  Fillers, Labelers, Sorter Bowls, Palletizers, Wrappers and Packers among other process and conveying systems.  Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as well as recommendations for improvement. 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Properly troubleshoot and maintain production lines and other processing equipment.
  • Properly perform all necessary maintenance tasks to production lines (i.e. rebuilds, welding, valve, pipe and solenoid selection, etc.)
  • Properly develop and implement preventive maintenance systems for all production equipment and other processing equipment.
  • Execute predictive and preventative maintenance practices for all production equipment when required.
  • Perform systematic preventative maintenance, including electrical or mechanical adjustments, inspections and minor repairs in a timely manner, identify and correct potential equipment problems.
  • Ensure work issues and work accomplished along with the documentation of the parts required to restore the system are logged in the CMMS as required.
  • Ensure that the failure mode and cause of the failure are documented in the CMMS in order to prevent future failures.
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in the execution of the work schedule. Ensures the area is maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
  • Work directly with cross-departmental personnel and management to problem-solve to ensure maximum production efficiencies.
  • Comply with all standard safety practices, safety rules, and all Company rules and policies.
  • Maintain proper safety conditions of equipment including immediately correcting or reporting safety issues to your supervisor.
  • Read, understand and comply with standard operating procedures and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Able to explain and demonstrate job tasks to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively assist with planning/scheduling and storeroom staff for tracking work orders, parts, and purchase requisitions.
  • Identify and assist in the implementation of projects as required.
  • Monitors and tests operational systems and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using electrical, process meters and other testing devices.
  • Provide effective advanced troubleshooting support, following best practices for safety and fault isolation.
  • Examines jobs to be done and determine scope and best way to accomplish the work. Consults with requester, maintenance planner, and/or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Obtains, drawings, instructional manuals and special procedures, as needed, from files or other sources. Makes any additional sketches, diagrams, etc., necessary.
  • Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority in operations support and work execution. Some examples are Arc Flash/Shock Hazard safety, confined space entry, LOTO, Line Break Permit, hazardous materials, hand tool safe use, etc.
  • Gains knowledge of plant's processes and packaging systems.
  • Enforces plant polices in the execution of their assigned duties. Report violations of plant polices to the Management.
  • Attends meetings and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommends improvements to preventive maintenance programs.
  • Performs other tasks and special assignments as requested by the Coca-Cola Maintenance Management team

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of process safety, electrical safety and GMP.                         
  • Excellent skills, knowledge and experience in performing preventive maintenance.                        
  • Knowledge of maintenance, understand schematics.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and ladder logic and controls helpful.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office including MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge and use of technical software applications including SAP.
  • Maintenance equipment troubleshooting skills.

Minimum Job Requirements: (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):

  • High School or GED
  • Meet all basic plant employment criteria, to include a good attendance record.
  • Must supply own tools per the Maintenance required tool list. Annual tools purchases are supplied by Coca-Cola
  • Able to read one-line diagrams, P&ID, blueprints and schematics.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on multiple levels, such as catwalks, ladders, etc. and ability to work in environmentally ambient temperatures.
  • Ability to visually identify defective parts.
  • Ability to detect defective parts, machine failures, and changes in speed and other routine running conditions.
  • Must have problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under stressful situations.
  • Must be able to work flexible shift schedules as determined by business need.
  • Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs.
  • Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Service and Cost objectives.

Desirable Job Requirements:

  • Formal factory or manufactures technical training
  • Minimum 5 years previous Food & Beverage experience.
  • Must be able to work flexible shift schedules as determined by business need.
  • Previous experience with SAP PM Centralized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
