SUMMARY

The incumbent’s position will consist of but not limited to operating the following pieces of equipment or processes:  NC Lathes, NC/CNC Turning, Drills, Saws, Hard-Boring, Broaching, Hob, Hone, Shaper, Tooth Rounder and possibly Fork Trucks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Report to work on time and per your work schedule. Punctual and regular attendance is an essential job duty.
  • Set up and operate the above operations efficiently with written operational instructions.
  • Will be expected to perform fixture changes/adjustments and replace consumable tooling and apply Operator Process Control training to statistically monitor and maintain quality within the established capabilities of each operation.
  • Responsible to maintain levels of production safely, efficiently and within the prescribed cycle times established on set-up instruction sheets.
  • Perform minor maintenance, material handling, safety, administrative, and other functions as required to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other requested functions related to plant operations as customer requirements and production demands dictate.  Position requirements are subject to change based on product or manufacturing changes and revisions or refinements in equipment, technology, processes, developments, systems, policies, programs, customer requirements, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Machinist I diploma or 2 years related machining experience in a machine shop, including OPC/SPC and CNC training and/or experience required; and must achieve a passing score on written and practical machining examination.
  • Must have a working knowledge of metal working as it relates to machining, a thorough knowledge of precision measurement equipment used in today’s metal working industries, the ability to read machining blueprints and process sheets, including good knowledge of the attached American National Standard Geometric Characteristic Symbols for Engineering Drawings, and the ability to successfully perform functions 1 through 8 on the attached NC/CNC MACHINE OPERATION sheet.
