Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the new Loss Prevention Operations team located in Chester. This team will comprise of 5 colleagues who will analyse stock loss, stock counts and till interventions in live time across the business to identify opportunities to reduce loss. Strong analytical skills are key within this role. Communication will also be key within this role, as the role holder will be expected to contact stores, distribution centres and buyers to raise issues and coach through standard operating procedures where necessary, they will also share common themes with the Heads of E2E Loss Prevention, Lead Loss Prevention Operations Managers and Loss Prevention Product Owners.

About the Role

• Identify cash loss and stock loss on a daily basis (working on a rota basis 7 days per week) and make interventions to reduce gross and net movements in cash and stock loss across M&S plc.
• Create and run daily / weekly / adhoc reporting to provide senior business leaders insight on how cash and stock loss are performing.
• Answer store questions on cash and stock loss. Work with the store teams to get them help in ensuring they have accurate stock and cash accounting.
• Answer questions from the Food and Clothing & Home Business Unit teams on stock loss. Work with the Business Unit teams to help them understand stock loss for their products.
• Ask stores questions about their cash and stock loss to ensure that cash and stock loss is understood. Make interventions with stores to ensure­ they have accurate stock and cash accounting.
• Ask the Food and Clothing & Home Business Unit teams questions about stock loss on their products to ensure that stock loss is understood. Make interventions with the Business Unit teams to ensure they accurately undertake processes that impact stock accounting.
• Work with the Loss Prevention Product Owners to constantly adapt ways of working to maximise the return of Loss Prevention Operations.
• Develop strong subject matter expertise on all elements of cash and stock accounting.  Create and maintain training materials and support a transfer of knowledge to others in the Loss Prevention team. Develop and monitor KPIs for stock loss in Foods
• Be the business owner of all management information and reporting on Foods stock loss
• Work with the Head of Loss Prevention Operations to set the key deliverables, targets and work processes for the Loss Prevention Team Support Managers
• Stay abreast of grocery industry developments and opportunities to enhance M&S’ capabilities in minimising stock loss in Foods

About You

• Excellent MS Office skills including Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint and Power BI
• Strong technical knowledge of stock management systems (and preferably finance systems)
• People, networking skills, inside the Business and with 3rd parties
• Excellent organisational and planning skills
• Works in a very detailed and methodical/logical way
• In-depth knowledge of M&S plc operations
